I just looked up Pepe Julian Onziema, to find out how he's doing these days. "As of 2020, he has found acceptance throughout his community, attending village elder meetings being embraced as "the son he truly is." And he's still fighting for LGBT rights!
  • OMG. I didn't know John got to talk to the activist from the famous "Why are you gay" meme. The episode aged like wine
  • @Fanouriou
I had nearly forgotten, sorry doesn't cut it! The man got hospitalized had nearly lost his hearing and as 2019 been arrested or detained 7 times! His activism is so important! Thank you Pepe Julian Onziema, for loving your country enough to try to make it better!
  • "Why are you gay?" Will forever be one of the most hilarious interview questions.

I love the idea of companies having a mid life crisis in their late 30s-40s because they realize they are going to die soon
  • Who is the new host? He's so young and vibrent. I didn't think Oliver's kids were this old but there is a clear family resemblance.

Look at him. So young, so full of energy. He's beautiful, fully awake, and ready to be crushed by the futility of modern society.

Okay just going to say this here since you can't comment on a playlist as a whole, but thank you to whoever made this an ordered playlist. These weren't uploaded in order and I know that probably wasn't anyone's fault but it made it a pain for my dyslexic ass to find the episodes in order. Having a fun time watching these again!

Who at LWT is up at 1:30 AM uploading season 1? I’m so grateful
  • @docMurk
Hey team LWT: Is it possible to put the original air dates in the description? Thanks for all you do!
  • @zachfederer8022
If anyone from HBO sees this, you should put the link to the extended interviews in the description or as a pinned comment. I would love to see more Pepe, Stephen Hawking, etc

Have boycotted HL ever since that ruling... the blatant smuggling of artifacts from Iraq came earlier but I didn't find out until their case before SC put them in the hot seat.

John Oliver uploading full episodes of Season 1 to remind us that he was once a fresh and young bloke😅
  • So I did a little research about Mr. Onziema. He's still very active in LGBT rights in Uganda, and has suffered violence because of it. He's been detained 7 times, and was once assaulted so badly he lost hearing in one of his hears and had to be hospitalized. But as of 2020 he's become a respected activist in Uganda, and is highly respected in his village and his community.

The interview with Pepe Julian Onziema is one my faves from LWT. Not the funniest, but I love hearing activists talk about their work
