Fly Fishing - Gorgeous Trout Stream in North East Victoria

Published 2023-09-30
With the trout season just beginning, I thought it would be a good time to post a video from a beautiful small stream in North-East Victoria that Jared and I fished at the end of last season. These rivers are such a delight to fish, with plentiful brown and rainbow trout that are fun to catch and still present a satisfying challenge to outwit.

Thanks to Phil Bushell Leather for the beautiful amadou patch, find him on Instagram if you want to order one for yourself. :)

Thanks so much, this was great. I just got home from an all day FlyFishing trip on my boat in Jervis Bay. Loved it and will do more this summer, keep the videos coming….

Nice one again Steve. Great to see that the gurus occasionally still get hung up in the scrub! Tricky little stream.

You certainly get around another great video
  • Great video boys , I will be down there in April to fish that stream and its lower stretch, which is certainly vastly different than above the bridge. One of my favourites . Thanks for the memories 😊

Great to see the struggle is real with the sticks and tree with it just compounding one after the other

Great vid Steve. I remember fishing that stretch when the lower lying rivers had blown it. It held up very well!

Where abouts is this little stream? Is it on private property?
  • For streams like this would a 3wt 6’6 with WF1F and a x5 leader 4lb tippet be ok?? Cos my other set up is a 5/6wt 9” WF5SS with a 2-3x and 8lb tippet but I’ve got that set up for the big boys at bullen merri so streams like this it’s overkill .. or am I better off buying a whole new set up? I’ve only ever used the smaller set up in the salt chasing baits (yakka and Tommy’s and such)

Why didn't you boys call me?! It's a quick 18 hour flight from Seattle to Melbourne.
