  • I’ve known Johnny for years now. When I first started focusing my attention on guitar I was having trouble figuring out what amp I wanted. A mutual friend mentioned it to Johnny and he took it upon himself to call me and help me figure out what I should get. He didn’t really know me at all and it was such a generous gesture on his part and it really helped me out. He didn’t have to take the time to do that but he did I will never forget it. Oh and the amp ended up being a 1966 Marshall JTM45. Thanks Johnny and thank you Josh for the interview!
  • @ampgent
These interviews are criminally under-viewed on YouTube. Great job with these Josh
  • @jumpskirt
Great interview. I've tuned in to JA's chats during the pandemic, and I learned some things from this interview that I did not know before. There were some really good questions!
  • Working with the Deaf & Hard of Hearing(DHH) at Downey High School in building "C" walking down the hall and see Johnny A's picture on the wall as an alumni and successful (my words) bas A$$, so great!
  • @guppybill
Some lush tones. I have talked up Johnny A. for years. Cool to see this.
  • Isnt amazing how many cite the beatles sullivan appearances as their key inspiration.
It just seemed to be like the show turned a switch that inspired everything in western music that followed... even til the present day
  • @LavaMan60
You both are fantastic humans and guitarists who inspire us all! I have learned a lot from both in person and online. Excellent interview.
  • At first I thought I accidentally left the movie The Town on in the background. LOL
No, in all seriousness, it was a fantastic interview and he seems like a great guy!
    Thanks again Josh!

Love Johnny A's playing and great interview.
One point that I think gets missed is when you look at people who "made it" in music and they had supportive parents and think, "that's the difference".
Sure, that's important. But you're not hearing from countless others who tried and failed...who also had supportive parents.
Not much room to make a living in that business which is why most fail, and that includes those who fought their parents and those who had their support.
There aren't 5 million spots at clubs, and on the radio, tv, or Top 100 or Top 40 charts...most people end up earning a living in a field that has more room them.
  • excellent interview, great stories J.A...and my first seeing Josh, so I'll have to look him up now..........lol
  • @aaarrarararrr
Mr Smith (I hope that you are reading the comments) could you do a Joscho Stephan interview? The man is amazing but out of the US circuit.
  • @erajad
16:56 "pop-rock band" with harmonies and an edge ... sounds a bit like Bill Nelson and BeBop Deluxe. Well ... a bit, anyway! :)
  • @jltrem
Johnny doesn't sound very Bahstun, does he?
