When Bobby dies in a car accident he is not allowed to enter heaven but has to stay in one of the lower levels until he has worked enough as an guardian angel in order to deserve paradise. One of his jobs is Lenny, a gifted boy, who loves his schoolmate Sharon who is the most beautiful girl of the class. But she does not even notice him so that he is about to commit suicide. Bobby prevents this and dresses Lenny up making him a playboy and tough guy so that he gets what he wants although Bobby knows that this is not the best. Thinking that his job is done, Bobby realizes that Lenny's mother is his former girlfriend who has married another guy. Although not being allowed he makes himself visible to her... My aunt taped this off of HBO around 1986. Randomly. We kids found it and it became one of our favorite movies.

When I was six, one of my closest friends, whom I looked up to, died at 10 years old. As a kid, this movie used to give me hope that I'd one day see him again. This movie will always have a special place in my heart.

I am 71, and this movie reminds me of a guy I went with when I was19, same pants, jacket, and attitude, he was 20 and was killed in a motorcycle accident. He was a Long Island nomad and I always wished he would have come back like Bobby did. I still cry when I watch this.
  • My dad bought me a new 53 Chevy & this movie reminds me of those days, I'm in my 80's now.

I'm a 46 year old man and I still cry every time I see this movie. An all-time classic.

I'm always amazed at how many people haven't heard of this film whenever I talk about 80s movies. For me, this is up there with Weird Science, Ferris Bueller, Naked Gun and Police Academy! I watched this on a grainy VHS countless times as a kid and memorized every scene, it's such a warm and fun movie with a very important message about the importance of being yourself and accepting others for who they are. The scene at the very end with Bobby going up the escalator, pondering everything that has happened, then gradually smiling as he approaches Heaven still makes me choke up a little! To this day, whenever someone asks me if a task is possible, I'm sure to tell them.... "I got it covered!" πŸ˜ƒ
  • This is a true gem of the 80's. A damn good film. I was just a kid when I saw this with my little brother and parents. I'm 41 now and this movie is still awesome.

No mobile, no ipad, no Facebook back then, life was so simple ughh.. miss those years......
  • I used to watch this movie all the time with my dad back in the 80's. It brings back a lot of memories. My father passed away in 2016 so every time I see this it feels like it brings me closer to him. I never used to cry to this movie until now. It's sad that you never realize what you truly have until it's gone. Not only does this film bring back those memories but it's also one I would recommend to anyone who has lost someone they loved. I found myself crying again while watching this, but the difference this time was that I had a smile on my face.
  • In the 2 years since I commented on this video, life has changed. I have a son now. He just turned 2. Just months before he was born, I became sober. Life for me truly began in my 40's. Seeing the ending now, OMG, hits me hard. I wept when Bobby said: "Heck of a kid, ain't he, Rafferty?". His voice cracked. Damn I felt that. Bobby went Uptown after doing right by his son. I began a new life as a father by doing right for my family.when I gained my sobriety.

I don't care how many flaws this movie has, it's one of my favorites.
  • This movie is a definite classic. A great film altogether. There is a message in this movie: stay true to yourself, and don't try to fit in.

I was 13 and visiting my Dad when this movie came out and we watched it together. Has plenty of comedy, meaning and sadness. Long live the iconic movies and times of the 80's. Growing up in an awesome era that I can't get back but will forever cherish in my life. β€πŸŽ‰

I watched this movie so many times when I was a kid at my buddy's house. This movie is a classic in my book, and one of the most underrated movies of the 80s. I got it covered.

I am 69 year old man and this reminds me of what I went through 7/10/1969 when I had my bad motorcycle wreck, I got my second chance at life.
