  • When you compare sizes of devices, I think it would be really helpful to have both screens displaying the same thing. So I could see how much bigger Mario is, or whatever.
  • @ledhrblaka
Hard to believe how cheap these things have become! The options are sometimes overwhelming but man it's a great time to be a handheld retro gamer.
  • Please don't ever change your intro man, I think it is about 8% of the reason I love your videos lol! Even if I don't plan to ever buy most devices (like this) it's always very entertaining watching your videos.
  • @Autotrope
This updated review has been a long time coming but I think you picked a good time to do it.
  • @ProcyonAlpha
Been rocking this trimui for a few months now, absolutely love it. If it had just a little more power for flawless psp and dc , it would be the perfect hand held
  • @Dansoo
I just got mine and it's replaced both my RG35XXH and the Miyoo Mini Plus, it really is an incredible device. It's amazing for GBA, the screen real estate is still bigger than both those devices, the display is crisper, the sleep mode actually works for some reason, and I can play most of my PSP games at 2x/3x native res (tho they're all lighter games). I love this device so much and the white one looks incredible, probably my best purchase this year next to my Odin 2 !
  • @SSuperC
Foe people comparing this to the RG40XX, one interesting bit of data is that 4:3 content on a 5-inch, 16:9 screen equals an equivalent 4.09-inch diagonal, so almost exactly the same as a 4-inch screen.

Nice meeting you today, Russ. Figured I would bump into you at some point on this island lol
  • @junhuitv
there's a newer version with fixed front speakers, d-pad ,rumble and triggers with a new copper heatsink on the back cover along with a box redesign!
  • @PNL_Hiro
My TrimUI Smart Pro just arrived today and I was just looking for a update video from you. What are the odds that you uploaded excatly that video 3 mins ago? =D
  • @fabriciobl4st
Hey Rus, love your videos. Just a heads-up about Knulli: to run Dreamcast/NAOMI/Atomiswave, use the standalone Flycast core and turn off all decorations and overlays on the ES menu; to run PSP, use the Libretro core and, again, turn off decorations and overlays; to run N64, use .zip files and the Parallel Libretro core. All 3 systems should work then.

Thank you so much for this video! I've recently bought TrimUI Smart Pro for $40 and I was looking for some custom firmwares and other "hacks" for this device and your video is like a dream come true. Previously, my best and main handheld device was RG35XX H but I really wanted to get something with a bigger screen because of the fact that I'm becoming old and blind. Your video proves that it was a good decision to get TSP. Thanks a lot 🙏🏻

the analog stick is fixed by running the calibration the and instead of using performance mode press X on a game and launch the performance version so the device only maxes out the cpu speed when needed instead of keeping it maxed out all the time. This prevents it from heating up
  • @ToddMcF2002
Great you are bringing focus to this device. I've been waiting months for improved Knulli support so the device has been sitting in its case unused. But i think I'll try CrossMix for now!
  • @Diggy22
I bought my TrimUI Smart Pro back when it first launched, and I’ve been telling people that it’s a great handheld in spite of its shortcomings. It’s a juggernaut when it comes to arcade games (both MAME and FBNeo), and fighting games in particular handle well. N64 handles well, and I don’t have too much issue with the analog sticks. I tend to play Wipeout 64 and Mario Kart on it, and I do well on both. The battery life is legendary too; I’ve left mine on sleep mode for less than a week in the past, and the battery life only dropped about 7 percent. I’m glad that the price drop has people considering it more now. I’m looking forward to using CrossMix with it now.
  • Picked mine up a couple weeks ago. Absolutely love it... literally the best in it's class IMO.
  • @flexoo7
Got mine in May. Ever since it has become a near-permanent settler in my bag, only sometimes giving way to 3DS. The sheer versatility of this thing is amazing. For the price of 50$ or even less when on sale it is not a device I need to be overly cautious about scratching or abusing, and things it can do between low to mid emulation and ports provides amazing library on an actually good screen. It even catches on BT plug headphones no problem while having a battery life more than enough to play in spare moments during the day without worrying about charging. And as CrossMix consolidated emulator settings, themes, additional soft - Smart Pro has become a near-seamless experience.

Thanks for the update Russ. I especially liked the info on the different operating systems available. Right after watching this video I went to get the mail and my smart pro was in the mailbox. It only took 12 days to arrive. The first thing I did was backup the sd card and install my own. After spending a day of testing everything possible I decided to go with the CrossMix-OS. Thanks again for the info on the os. The machine does exactly what I want it to do. I have an original modded PSP and PS Vita for those games. I also have a modded 3DS XL. I wanted a portable machine with a good sized screen and this fit the bill. Your reviews helped and I appreciate it.

I just asked about this video last week and like a magician you always surprise me! I'm eagerly awaiting my TSP from overseas and I'm now very excited to get a hold of it. You're the best Russ! Love the content!
