If anything is a 100% lock at the Oscars this year, it's Dune for sound.
  • @romilrh
I feel bad for anyone who couldn't see this movie in IMAX. I felt Dune's sound design in my BONES
  • Best sound on a movie I’ve ever watched - it brought the world of Dune to life.
  • @jevinday
I just want to take a minute to appreciate the fact that Hollywood actually made an adaptation of a book with a director that cared deeply about the source material and got Zimmer to bring that vision to life. What a wonderful gift we were given.

I cant believe they didn't have a segment about the Sardukar chant, id watch half hour about that part alone, the best battle cry or sci-fi noise of any film ever made
  • This movie is a masterpiece. You can see the absolute infinitesimal detail they go into and having the post production right in from the beginning. Brilliant work.
  • @scottmanley
Gotta love the reference to Lee 'Scratch' Perry and his mastery of Dub.
  • This was my first time I watched a documentary about designing sounds for a movie. I really like Denis idea that the sound should not be the last thing at the end of making a movie and instead should be a first class citizen! Sound can convey so many different emotions and feelings and thus its as important as everything else. Its really great that there was time for the team to experiment and design something new and at the same time relatable. I did't know the thought process behind sound can be so interesting! thanx so much!
  • This is extremely interesting. I'm pretty sure tons of people have been listening to this music since it came out, and it's great to know how it was made :)
  • NGL I cried when I saw that ending on opening day. Just that masterpiece score sent shivers down my spine.
  • @makeperceive
Spectacular. This doc could have been twice as long and we'd watch it all.
  • @ricomorales1307
Actors play their part but to have a crew like this. The back bone, the FOUNDATION of making it believable is priceless. Thank you so much and I wish you more great projects now moving forward.

I went to the best university in the world, Royal College of Music, London....and we would work with the National School Of TV and they would teach the directors that if you need music then your film is weak....so to see such a genius as Dennis Villeneuve championing sound is the best feeling ever

The soundtrack is absolute masterpiece. It's fits to the story so well! I've been transferred to the world of Dune the moment the movie started.
  • @SS-yr3ij
Knowing Dune and having read the books multiple times from age 15 and also believing firmly that perfection is an illusion...This adaptation is the best an adaptation can ever be....Excellence all around....It couldn't have been better especially when u consider how dense and complex the books are
  • @henrijs1733
Denis' sound team is an actual dream team. Blade Runner and Dune have the best sound of any movie/game/show I've ever heard.
  • @catc8927
That philosophy about making an Arrakis documentary soundtrack explains why Hans Zimmer didn’t go for some big bombastic score. It’s more akin to his work for Planet Earth, which I loved too.

It blows my mind that sound design isn't conventionally an early part of the pre-production process in film. Concept art informs the look and feel of films at these early stages, I'd have thought sound would be too - particularly in cinema, sound is just as important as visuals to create an immersive experience.

The level of competency in every detail is so inspiring i started to attempt some perfection on anything i did after watching it, its not just about filmmaking its the attitude behind this level of craftsmanship, its something we all should strive for regardless of our job and pay. Its not for the sake of competition with others but with your own standards.
