My Silent Hill Downpour Trailer/Theme Song

Published 2012-02-04
This my own trailer for Silent Hill 8 - Downpour.

I more than any one was devastated to hear Akira Yamaoka wasn't returning to do the soundtrack, although I believe Daniel Licht will do a good job I don't think he could capture the same emotion you get when listening to Akira Yamaoka's music.

I didn't want to do music in the style of Akira like I usually do. I wanted to reinvent the music to match the reinvention of the gameplay.
But I still wanted to give it that signature Silent Hill ambience to it.

The music and sound effects are done by me as well as the video editing.

I have included all the aspects that made the seven previous soundtracks so good guitars, pads, pianos, drums and those unhuman mechanical and industrial noises.

  • You're really good! I don't play video games, I actually know Silent Hill just because of Akira Yamaoka. You really put a different feeling but that's a positive thing, means that you're original and have your own way to make music. I loves this

i love the tribal part with the piano outro! great job man, best part at 3:01, the music combined with those fight scenes in slow motion are awesome and the ambience that you create too, this is what sh needs, you should work with akira man

First off, not bad at all. Very Dark atmospheric, Soundscape. I love it. I too was disappointed to hear that Akira left, It really saddens me but at least he'll keep doing games :) by the way, I also create music heavily inspired by Akira and Silent Hill I actually have a Rock/Metal Cover of "Not Tomorrow" from the first game on my profile. If anyone's interested, I'm not trying to take away from you good sir, just networking :)

So I've listened to a few people come up with their own music for downpour, and I got to say several of them sound closer to techno tracks than actual music for a survival horror game. Not trying to offend in anyway, you obviously put time into this and in that regard you have my respect, just think Licht has done perfectly fine. Don't understand why so many people whine so much, Akira was great, but it's not like there aren't other great talents out there.
