Dickey Betts, guitarist for the Allman Brothers, died today at age 80. May he Rest in Peace.

I was 24 in 1973. Now I am 72 and this song never gets old! What a band they were!

🎶 1973 is the year I started kindergarten at age 5 years old. As a 56 y/o black woman, I’m feeling this! 🎶 “But I'm not gon' let 'em catch me, no, not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider.” 🎶

Honestly, Gregg Allman is severely, hell I would go as far as saying criminally, under rated as a lyricist, a singer and a musician.

The note changes on this is out of this world. 😵‍💫 It’s sounds so beautiful for a live performance.

Every now and then you hear a song that strikes a chord with your soul, this is one of those few songs that does that… truly a beautiful piece of music ..

how I miss those days when life was better people were kinder and great music

If only I could have been there.. To me the 60s 70s were the best time to be young and listening to music. 😁

Such a trip watching old Allman Brothers videos. I'm a local real estate agent in CT and was at a Lowe's to have a copy of a key made. While waiting in line to get the key made, I turned around and saw the guy standing by some shelving checking out aloe plants. I knew right away who it was because of the area in CT I was. I walked over to the other aside of the shelf and literally said "holy shit it is you" - Jaimoe. Thankfully I play drums in a band with the bassist of Jaimoe's Jasssz Band so we were able to strike up a conversation about music. We stood there hanging out and talking for a good 30-40 minutes. Our conversation ended with us exchanging numbers! So yea, when I watch these old videos it blows my mind to think that I've become friends with Jaimoe still! Lol

Allman Brothers were so talented. Betts is just a phenomenal guitar player and Greg's vocal just resonate with such haunting depth. AAA+++

Truer words were never spoken when Gregg sang "I'm no angel", but man we lost one of the greatest of the greats today. Don't ever let em catch you, and rock on with Duane for eternity. RIP Midnight Rider.
