Most lighting these days uses LEDs. They're super-low power, provide good light, and last a long time. But you probably still have some fluorescent lights left. If you're like most people, you haven't quite gotten around to replacing them with LED tubes. You really should replace them though since LED tubes use much less power than fluorescent ones. The trouble is, it's complicated. There many types of fluorescent fixtures and rewiring is often required. So, how do you make it as easy as possible? Join me for a detailed yet simple 3-Step Guide to converting your fluorescent light fixtures to LED!

I bought 30 single ended LED's. So far, I've put 5 icons up on my screen from YT on how to wire them up. After watching you I am going to delete all of them and just leave yours. Wish all the other YT'ers were as good and thorough as you. Thanks.

I watched many LED conversion videos, AND this is the best. As an engineer, I have to know why then how.

Thanks to your description of the different types of fluorescent fixtures I was able to determine that mine were shunted and was able to remove the ballast and get the correct bulbs.
  • @JimE6243
This was by far the easiest how to understand on this subject. Many I have watched didn't even indicate there were two types of bulbs. Thanks!!

Excellent explanation. I needed to know the difference between shunted and non-shunted (dual ended & single ended). Thanks.

Professor Scottie! This must be, by far, the best, most explainable, easiest understandable, conversion presentation I came across on YT. Congrats on your explanation and footage...it really is the best! Guys like you, makes dummies like me feel better about ourselves and life much easier! ☺

Scotty, you're a great hacker! Smart too. Some research shows that led lights harm the light receiving rods inside our eyes.
  • Just went to Home Depot and got the GE type A/B LEDs. Pulled out the ballasts, joined all the wires on each side, and applied line and neutral to opposite ends. Super easy. No need to worry about wires, tombstones or anything. BTW, Home Depot told me they will not be selling anymore fluorescent bulbs once they sell their current inventory.
