Ohio State Loses Former Top-100 Wide Receiver To Transfer Portal

Published 2024-04-30
For the third time on the final day of the spring Transfer Portal window, the Ohio State Buckeyes have lost a player to the portal.

This time, it's redshirt sophomore WR Kyion Grayes, who announced on Tuesday evening that he was leaving the Buckeyes after two seasons.

Tony Gerdeman and Tom Orr of BuckeyeHuddle.com break down the impact of Grayes' departure on what could be a thin Ohio State wide receiver unit.

@BuckeyeHuddle , regarding the thin WR hole, it's a good thing has and utilizes the TE role. Oh, WAIT‼️ Was I day dreaming again⁉️😜❤🌰🏈💯

Good luck to any buckeyes wherever they go much love always go bucks!❤ don't sleep on Mylan Graham!
  • Have news for Tom. Mylan Graham is several levels above Ballard. 5 practices in the fall and Graham jumps Ballard and no looking back. In fact Graham will test Tate for playing time early in the season. He is that good. You doubted JJ, now Graham.

I like Ky. Hoping for the best. Kojo stayed though. That’s good

I would love to see Jayden Ballard finally break out, and have a great year……

January should be the only transfer portal time for 10 to 14 days so they can meet with their current coaches about future and progress then move one for spring ball. That's it
  • I guess if he's leaving he must have known he isn't going to get to play much
  • @UncleRicoOSU
He doesn’t miss often, but it’s safe to say Hartline whiffed on the ‘22 class.

14:01 "Assuming they can find those two tight ends." Has it really come down to this? Ohio State can't find two tight ends? Will they at least find one?

I feel like we over-recruit high end wideouts. You don’t need to recruit five 4 and 5 star receivers every year. If these kids don’t get to play after two years, I don’t blame them for leaving. Just like the most of rest of the fan base, I want more stud linemen on both sides of the ball.

no one the buckeyes have lost would have been/is a difference maker. Other than Dallan Hayden, none of these guys had made a real impact.

Hsvent heard a peep from Kojo

I liked him. He waited till the absolute last min so must have been hard for him. Not glad to see him go, he had ability but understand him wanting to play elsewhere - he would start on like every other team in the cointryv

Is that 25 players that have hit the portal since the end of the regular season? That's crazy.
