  • One of the greatest Kings of Italy, he is still fondly remembered in Italian history, probably the only gothic ruler to enjoy such a positive reputation.
  • I wouldn't say Theodoric's achievements died with him, rather they shaped his legacy to become a figure of legend in germanic folktales as Dietrich Von Bern.
  • Theodoricus Rex 💙 He wasn't a barbarian King, He was our king. Ostrogoths and longobards are cultural and biological part of modern italians, but for years we dont care about this era of our history. Now this is changed.

Gary Jennings' historical novel "Raptor" provides much detail about the life, family and accomplishments of Theodoric the Great. Jennings always did an inordinate amount of research into facts of his characters' lives. A fascinating read.

To call him a barbarian is a disgrace.
