I was completely blown away when I first entered Area Zero, and the music first kicked in. The last hour of this game is truly phenomenal

I wish i could hear this for the first time again

This track added so much to that feeling of "I should leave n o w, but I absolutely must explore" that Area Zero gives me, a feeling no other zone in a game has given me.
  • Something I feel like I should point out is that the theme of Area Zero could be depicted as a tragedy. Throughout Area Zero, we learn about our companions as they open up to each other. Arven is most obvious at this point since he is an orphan with issues involving his parent. He is simply a lonely child and doesn't know the fate of his parent until later. The sad part is that he had a feeling he knew what happened to them, thanks to the experience against a Titan Pokemon, but denied it. The AI professor agreed it wouldn't be right to call him his/her son anymore. Nemona simply wants a friend. With her coming from a wealthy family who has an older daughter willing to run the business someday, Nemona feels left out, apart from her family. Despite having a stable relationship with said family, Nemona is the only one who likes Pokemon training and always constantly looking for battles. In a way, Nemona seeks attention in the way of Pokemon battling but because of her personality, she always manages to scare everyone away. Penny is bullied for being an outcast. Awkwardly quiet and not social, she was an easy victim of bullying and simply wanted to stand up against her oppressors through Team Star, via Phone. Despite not being able to stand out or speak her mind, she did defend herself but at the cost of looking like a bully. As a result, Penny is sent back home to Galar and tries to disband her new friends without saying goodbye physically. Even the box legendary fits the bill. Because of its humiliating loss of territory, Koraidon/Miraidon was forced to leave Area Zero and now fears returning to it. Hiding away in its Pokeball, it only wants to bury its past until it is ready to come out again. Gamefreak knocked the ball out of the park.

the way (excluding their individual friendships with the protag) arven, penny, and nemona went into area zero as near strangers/not friendly acquaintance and came out as family 😭that pic of the gang after the credits had me bawling
  • @Naturmacht1
The whole area feels like it shouldn't exist. Like a paradox itself. The music makes this feeling stronger.
  • Whoever directed this entire area is a huge SMT nerd and deserve a raise, by far the best part of the game
  • Deliberd: Hey, can I get an evolution too? Game Freak: Not in a billion years. laugh track credits roll
  • This song…… What can I say about it. I love the quiet, serene first notes that are then contrasted with the loud chorus. It only gets more bombastic as more instruments get added, almost symbolic of the descent into madness you, Penny, Arven and Nemona are going on. Also, can I just say, I love how Penny becomes the snark queen here to contrast Nemona’s brick brain and Arven’s loredumping?

Distortion World: "Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!"
  • @calico22
I tough this zone was gonna be a simple boss figth, did not expect this masterpiece of a level, music, ambience, everything. Such almost perfection of a place. I love it
  • "Young man, I sense several powerful demons in the area. Proceed with caution."
  • I love how the absolute beauty of this place is contrasted so heavily by this song. It drives home the feeling you get that something is wrong here. Powers beyond our understanding are at work here and our continued existence is at their mercy.
  • @RowletGod69
I literally cannot enter Area Zero without feeling unnerved. Damn, this theme ranks among the Distortion world as the best of the best Pokémon OSTs
  • @mr_red3
    “Battle Against A True Paradox”
  • @Sonatalove765
This song feels so eerily nostalgic, like I've heard in a dream or something. Beautiful.
  • I can't wait to revisit this track in 10 years and confirm this was indeed the best Pokemon OST ever.
  • @milesshaw9059
The Finale was so perfect for a Pokemon finale. I just hope more Pokémon Games have similar things like this.
  • @arctohru
"We interrupt your pokemon game to bring you Made In Abyss!"
  • @anikevin
Since Pokemon Platinum's distortion world that I felt goosebumps entering an area in a Pokemon game. Well done Gamefreak.
