REMINDER As he said at 9:40, If you have or find a Wii with a broken disc drive, DONT throw it out just yet! You can always mod them to load games from a Flash Drive, SD Card, or HDD.

I bought a working unhacked RVL-001 Wii with two Wii Remotes, a Nunchuk, a sensor bar, all the cables, all in a box, for 10 bucks, from the Salvation Army. Thrift stores are great places to look for games/consoles. Don’t sleep on them.

I really like the fact that your posting a video each day until Christmas, its very interesting

The Wii is one of my most favorite Nintendo consoles and I still have an old Wii which is almost 14 years old already and it still works even today! By this Christmas, it'll be exactly 14 years since I first got my Wii which I first got for Christmas back in 2008.

It takes time to to go thru these consoles and lebel them, they just plugged them in, reset it and bagged it, takes only a few minutes. So is easily understandable why they labeled these consoles as 'UNTESTED"

Bro Wii is not unused it's probably the most used because of nostalgia fun and it was cheep enough for small functions to buy stuff

I'm gonna list a few troubleshooting tips incase you get a console with partial functionality and don't know the cause -Its obvious if you have a bad DVD drive just by listening to what happens when a disc is inserted, Things like clicking, loud fast spinning etc. Wiis can have a similar issue to the PS2 slims where the Laser ribbon cable can scratch discs up bad (at least there is one circular line on scratched PS2 discs, Wii discs have multiple). It is easy to replace the drive, much easier than trying to replace the laser. There is no need to swap the drive board, since it isn't paired to the motherboard unlike PS3/Xbox 360, but the console has like 20 screws inbetween the console and the drive. If you have no video it is very rarely a problem with the GPU/AV port, it it usually a failed Bluetooth or WIFI module. Bluetooth modules were faulty from the factory iirc, and the WIFI module uses similar tech to the Bluetooth module. Both have been failing recently, And when they fail the Wii wont turn on, I have no idea is that it is WIiConnect24 related or boot2 related, but the most likely cause is that the Wii Remote connects via Bluetooth, so something is messing up there. Replacing one or both of these modules will most likely fix the issue, but again, there are a lot of screws to remove to get to the motherboard. There is also a possibility of No Video because the previous owner installed a softmod wrong and bricked something in boot1, boot2, IOS or the system menu, however I doubt it due to how easy it is to install the mod. It can also, albeit very rarely, be a GPU fault, since back in the WiiConnect24 days it was always on, so when the console was in standby (plugged in but NOT turned on), the GPU and CPU were on as well. The fan wasn't on due to it being in standby, so all that heat killed the GPU. The reason I doubt this is because the console usually still turns on but has GPU faults like Artifacting. It could still be a possibility. Try reflowing the GPU only if you tried all the other options and you still have no video. For the one with the bad sensor bar port, I doubt the port is faulty. The port itself looks fine, and those ports are not sensitive unlike HDMI ports on most consoles. It only uses 2 pins, and one of them is probably dirty. Spray some 99 or 91% IPA in the port a few times, that should clean it up nice, but if you want it to be cleaned better, use a old toothbrush that you don't use anymore or a Q-Tip and clean the port up a little. If that doesn't work, it could be a cracked solder joint, since the solder is old and brittle due to heat and age. Wiggle the port a little and see if it wiggles more than normal. It will require some soldering work. Almost all issues are DVD drive issues, most of the laser issues are due to the laser not supporting dual-layer discs well. Smash Bros Brawl is the 8th best selling game, and came on a dual layer disc alongside Metroid Other M (and prime trilogy) and Xenoblade Chronicles. The disc scratching can be fixed by reseating the cable. Its a lot easier to just replace the drive rather than troubleshoot. I recommend you pin this incase other people are experiencing these issues.

The "Weirdness" is the yellowing of the white part of the controller.
  • @derpdude32
I would be very interested in aquiring a wii classic or wii pro controller if you plan on selling any of them on your website
  • @pachirisu31
That's a lot of Wii stuff, I always liked that console.

9:44 Unfortunately, this Wii will never play A Boy and his Blob or Mario Party 9 ever again.
  • @budgerigarer
It drives me insane when you don't select widescreen in the setup... It looks SO much clearer if you enable widescreen when using a widescreen tv.
  • @2001DJ
I need all these in my house, now.
  • Should be careful inputting a random media device into your computer. Use an old pc you don’t care about just in case!
