Novak Djokovic vs Rafael Nadal Full Match | US Open 2010 Final

Published 2020-06-11
Rafael Nadal entered the US Open 2010 tournament as world No. 1 on the heels of French Open and Wimbledon victories. But in consecutive US Open semifinal appearances in 2008 and 2009, he won just one set in two matches as he bowed out to Andy Murray and Juan Martin del Potro.

He was improving on the hard courts, but still far from satisfied. Already a legend with eight career Grand Slam titles, Nadal had a point to prove.

Armed with a newly-bolstered serve that routinely clocked 135mph on the radar gun, the then 24-year-old stormed into the final without dropping a set. But could he find a way past Novak Djokovic to become only the sixth man to earn a career sweep of all four majors?

Isnt it unbelievable though how well Djokovic is at returning these INSANE shots from Nadal? I just- its remarkable how interesting these guys are together
  • Did anyone notice how cute that lil gesture was from Djokovic when he offered to handle his money 3:54:43 they are so cute and grown up soo much 🥺❤
  • Oh my goodness. This is the first time I saw Rafael Nadal hand his check to Nole. They are both GOATs along with Federer. Classic match.

10 years later and these 2 are still dominating the sport

Nadal at his absolute best - a great year capped by this victory. Also nice to see how Djokovic was, as ever, gracious in defeat. Two great competitors!

loving the hug at the end - the 2 of them always have great hugs :)

This was Nadal at his highest level on hard courts. His serve, forehand, and backhands all did damage and he went for hard shots that opponents couldnt return. Since this time and even in 2012AO final majority of his shots were just relying on topspin and tiring the opponent with few aggressive play making shots like he displayed here. 1:25:20 - 1:25:28 the type of shots I'm referring to. 1:31:57 this backhand level was peak
  • As Nadal fan lot of people remember Wimbledon 2008 in higher regard but for me this one is most special it has so much historical significance

Usually, I don't like Novak Djokovic because of his character during matches sometimes! But @3:54:45 ! 😂😍 Really Loved it and him too!!! Lovely Momen

Rafa's first US Open title and became the youngest Career Grand Slam and Career Golden Slam winner and also becoming the first man in history to win the Surface Slam (majors on clay, grass, and hard courts in the same calendar year)

Rafa is such a class act. And still 10 years later more popular and classy than ever before,
  • This era was Nadal´s peak in the game, from 2008-2010. His level was amazing, after these years it has been decresing a little bit every year. But he is so good that even this way, he has been winning tournaments but specially whe Djokovic or Federer failed. When Nadal was at this level (2008-2010) he was invincible.

100 years later and these two are still dominant macho characters

Rafa was crushing serves during this whole tournament!! Scary to add that weapon to one of the already all-time great players...but it was a bit too hard on his shoulders to keep it up
  • This is the only tournament for which I've kept all of Rafa's matches on my tivo. I usually keep his winning finals, sometimes his losing finals, maybe a special semi or quarter but USO 2010 is the only one where I've kept the whole shootin' match.
  • AO 2022 , Nadal proves that HE is More than The King of clay Vamosss .....!!! Rafael Nadal The Goat !!

Biggest understatement ever on Djokovic. "I think he's gonna get another major someday."
