"There's no 'I' in team" is a saying most anyone who has ever played an organized sport has heard. The 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team had to learn that the lesson on their way to greatness. This video which consists of three videos found on YouTube attempts to show the viewer the importance of understanding the concept of team - which is something applicable to not only sports teams but also to your work and your family. A man who aspires to be a servant and not focus on himself will is on the path to become an uncommon man.

  • I’m in Canada and I still believe that this Miracle on Ice team’s gold medal victory at the 1980 Winter Olympics was huge. So much bigger than Canada beating the Soviets in the 1972 Summit Series. Team Canada was expected to blow out the Soviets while 1980 US team weren’t even given a soot at a medal. This was the biggest ever “ David vs Goliath” upset in the history of modern sport.

40 years later and it still gives me chills in that final minute.

I can still remember at 8 years old the crowd chanting U S A. It was the greatest sports experience and Patriotic moment that I have ever watched. The movie "Miracle" was such a perfect telling of this performance. It makes me tear up every time because I can still hear the crowd chanting. The younger generation has lost patriotism in our country but hopefully they will find it.
  • The only type of unity true patriots know about! We need that patriotism today, now, more than ever!
  • One quick fist pump for glory and a few hugs...and then a most rapid escape from glory to give the moment to his players...the most awesome display of humility I have ever seen.

I play for the United States of America.......best dam scene in the whole movie!!!
  • I was born in pakistan, live in canada. been watching this game for just over 20 years. to me this is the most important hockey moment in the history of the game, for me at least. what coach brooks did, along with the boys on/off the ice has always carried close to me everywhere i go. I am in sports management for this reason as well. an incredible job by the usa hockey program for letting coach take this approach and accepting him for who is was. thank you

The name on front is a hell of lot more important than the one on the back. RIP Herb Brooks

Best scene in the movie! You don't want to work during the game? That's okay we'll work now! Love it!

“Tell him to leave me the keys, I’ll lock up...”😂
  • Best line from the movie was also one of the saddest, when Herb Brooks says that, "Now that we have Dream Teams, we don't dream anymore." A feat of coaching and team building that will probably never be duplicated.
  • In our current climate, I suspect that players would simply sue the coach, coaching staff, Olympic committee if this happened now a days and likely win the case.

When I watched it in my living room of my apartment in 1980 it was emotional for me. Even now it doesn’t matter if I watch the actual replay of the match or clips of the movie I still get emotional.

I watched this whole game!!! It was a day before my 14th birthday!!!!! My whole family watched with me because I played hockey. What a great few hours of my life!!!!

I was one of many to watch this game. Never been so proud as I was that day. They were considered the longest of the long shots and won. Most never even expected them to be there and they still won. Those young men and what they achieved that day was nothing short of amazing. Coach was right, that name on the front of their jerseys was way more important than the one on the back. This was truly one of the great moments in sports history.
