The big problem is having land not giving you economic security. In one game I had a large city and two nearby castles. I worked to raise prosperity and protect my land and upgraded what I could and had good governors with the correct culture. My army and garrisons were not huge or particularly high level. All of that and i still relied on fighting battles to break even every month. Compared to being a mercenary, with a caravan and maybe a good shop - doing this you can make a fortune.
  • You just said what I had in mind. This game is like CIV for me, I play it when I need to sink 10-20 hours in it and then find something else to play. Great video, keep'em coming!

Thanks for this video I pretty much agree with everything here. Still find myself going back to warband with the original floris mod pack (the gameplay pack) installed a lot more frequently than I do bannerlord. Something about warband just feels a lot snappier and polished to me. I catch a lot of flak on reddit for saying this but it's true, Warband is just a lot more fun imo, only thing is that you can't have individual mods like bannerlord so every mod for warband is actually more like a mod pack. This comes with the downside of most mods being filled to the brim with bloat... With no way to turn off most of them... One of the most popular smaller mods that most mod creators put in their mod backs rn is an animation mod and it frequently bugs out and completely kills the experience for me, like the original animations for the game are great not sure why you'd want to change them. The big new mod making the rounds rn is Bannerpage and this in my opinion is a perfect example of a mod just absolutely oozing bloat mods (it includes a sex mod for example which you can turn off, and also the aforementioned animation mod along with many... many... many others). So bannerlord does have that on warband but honestly I probably won't go back to bannerlord until some of the complete overhaul mods come out anyway e.g. DADG or the starwars one so for me personally it's barely a win for bannerlord. Thanks for reading my rant I really appreciate the video!
  • half of year since the last patch and we got...a betta update with only fixes...at this point is fair to say they scamed us
  • Mods make the game. Ive been playing for a while and i hesr peoples complaints but at the same time if i get board i start over with a different mod list and have a completely fresh experience

Whats so bothering is that TW keep saying they are introducing "NEW" features like weather, alleyways, claimants etc, but the reality is, they are not new features. They are features they showcased in 2017 (that helped us buy the game) that were supposed to be in the full game. Theres nothing new about them. Its like me selling a chess board without the Bishops, and then saying im introducing new features to the game, which are the bishops. Its gaslighting and indecent. They also then left the game to modders, who have since abadoned the game after TW ignored their open letter addressing the main issues for modders. Its truely baffling how incompedent they are.
  • They been working so much on balancing troops, crashes, and battle optimization that their forgetting the kingdom part of mount amd blade workshops barely make money, kingdoms often dont break even and battles are always needed. Etc
  • this is my comment before watching the video. Bannerlord early game is amazing, I love it! But mid to late game? is boring
  • I have 833 hours in Bannerlord, and many many more in Warband and Mount & blade, considering I was an early access backer. I don't use any mods at all. And I thoroughly enjoy it, I don't know why people seem to expect more from the game than it offers. It isn't meant to be CK3 or an RPG. It's a game for people who enjoy combat on horseback, and it gives you an excuse to do that.

Really I just play bannerlord every now and then for the battles. I've already done everything else there is to do.

Shame on Failworlds for killing a series with so much potential.
  • I got into the game after full release. And now after 599 hours I finally started to use more advanced mods. And with Banner Kings and RBM its like a whole new game to me! So I hope I get another 500 hours out of it. For all its flaws I belive the community makes up for much of it. Edit: Also recently installed Fourbrie which really gives you a reason to interact with the world more

I own this game, have 1800 hours on it. I got it early, as I liked the first game. Every now and then I go back to it, only to see the same bugs.. guys getting stuck behind objects in the sieges, where you can't win because one guy is stuck behind a door of a house or something that they are unable to be hit in. There is a lot of jank, as if they don't play test. Yeah it gets boring late game. I hate the campaign which asks you to go on the other side of the world to do some quest while trying to manage a war, in the middle of a siege, etc. Where it just become oh this annoying crap again? Go beat these few bandits on the other side of the world, while I'm obviously trying to win a war and the AI looses 5 towns while you are. I also see your point with the limited diplomacy options. It's far more fun in early to mid game, I prefer sandbox because that main quest is so annoying. It is more a tutorial that never ends in my opinion then an actual main quest. You don't even get the option to say screw this banner, I want nothing to do with it. Every one wants the banner but no one wants it, you just end up getting stuck with it and it's stats suck. I agree, with your video. Bro.. Haven't touched it in probably a year.. but then again I don't run mods.
  • i disagree with your take, but i respect that it seems your position is well thought out, to each their own!

I do agree that there’s many areas the game can improve on. And hell, there’s a few areas warband did better. But we’ve sunk hours and hours of fun into it. How can we say it’s not great? Or a scam? Really? Most games I play once for a couple hours and get bored. I got more than my moneys worth here. The later game gets real boring and tedious, but it’s a video game it’s not meant to entertain you endlessly. We want more from the game because we love it and the franchise, NOT because it sucks.

I'd really like to play another modded run... I just can't stand the unresolvable crashes.
  • To sum up the experience of still playing Bannerlord after its official release: TalesWorld: Congratulations! You helped me to get another patch for M&B: Bannerlord! Fans: Oh great! And what do we get? TW: Nothing! Now get out! Fans: What? TW: GET OOOUT!!!
