I'm your host, Darren Van Dam!

These are some of the Scariest Horror Movies on streaming platforms right now! The Conjuring the Devil Made Me Do It is currently in theaters and on HBO max and while I did like it enough, it's not totally satisfying. So, I compiled a list of some of my favorite hidden gem horror movies from the past decade or so. All of the movies on this list are scarier than The Conjuring series and they're all currently included with major streaming services. I also included a quick The Conjuring review and a review of the most overlooked and scariest horror movie from 2020, The Empty Man.

Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.

Thanks for watching!

Gory doesn’t equal scary. I’m noticing this seems to be the a thing with horror fans.

The Autopsy Of Jane Doe!! That’s a horror movie that should have been on this list! Super creepy! Scary as F! Messes with your head!

As someone who watches a lot of horror movies. It is refreshing to find a list that doesn't include something I haven't already watched. This channel is great.

Eden Lake stuck with me for a loooong time. This movie doesn't have dumb characters making silly mistakes all the time. They reacted the same way you or I would have. And because of that, Eden Lake conveys the feelings of raw fear and utter helplessness so well, that it's just hard to forget. I saw it only once, and have zero intentions of seeing it again. Nightmare fuel.

I can't watch horror on Tubi or any of the streaming services that have ads. Something about the break away from the movie that kills it. Horror has to be commercial free.

Here's something people need to realize about The Devil's Candy - Usually in horror movies the parents are well adjusted but at least one of the kids isn't and they're into heavy metal. In this movie the whole family is into heavy metal and are all very well adjusted. This is the first time I've ever seen a metal loving family portrayed this way.

I love that he focuses on lesser known titles. I'm guessing that he assumes that his fans are huge horror fans, and thus will have seen most, if not all, of the more popular flicks-- that's me, anyhow, so again, mutch appreciated. It's actually been a long-held ambition of mine to see every worthwhile horror movie in existence.
  • For the life of me I never understood how The Empty Man was so under the radar. That film really brought back my love for old horror in a big way. It didnt feel like a rerun cliche, it felt organic.

Thinking "The Empty Man" is the gem at the end. Went in expecting nothing and was genuinely, greatly surprised.

The prelude of “ the empty man” makes perfect sense. In Buddhism bells are used to ward off evil. That’s why the bridge was covered in them. I think the entity was trapped, and the prelude explains how it escaped.
  • My friend and I saw the empty man at my aunt's house a few days ago for a sleepover. It was amazing. It is the best horror movie we've watched. Truly underrated however the story at first glance is straightforward yet really confusing if that makes sense. The ending got us scratching our heads but in a good way, we wanted more.
  • love the list. really appreciate it. also love the fact that you've already given the movies in the list, and then explain the type of film it is and why we should watch it. great video. keep them coming!
  • @lunaticskitten
I love that you cover so may types of things, and tell just enough to give someone the idea of the movie without spoilering the details. I've watched several of your recommendations, and tend to forage for movies you've given the thumbs up on. Without fail they meet the expectations you set in your overview.

As a horror junky it's so hard to find a movie that actually hits and unnerves me I'll def give these a watch when I have the time.
  • Last shift was amazing and genuinely scared me as an adult, glad to see it getting some love
  • @ianh6845
The Eyes of my Mother. As soon as he mentioned the name it all came flooding back. He ain't lying. That movie is twisted. One the best horror films I've ever seen I think.
  • @apokswitch6378
Found your channel fairly recently. I don’t watch a lot of movies and stuff, but when I like to find obscure movies and get lost. I have found so many hidden gems in your lists. Thanks for the content and keep ‘em coming!
  • I've only seen The Devil's Candy. It's pretty straightforward, plot-wise; no surprises or twists, and it's a bit too short. But they really know how to build the tension. The cinematography is great and the heavy metal soundtrack makes the film a standout among the myriad lifeless horrors big studios churn out each year.

A great vampire flick I recently watched that should still be on Netflix is Blood Red Sky. Another is The Strangers: Prey at Night, which is a very good slasher with excellent, believable performances.
