also yes my hair is like a milk tea ashy blonde now, will be shared more in a future video LOL
  • I had a massive epiphany one day where i realised I used to have so much creativity when I was 8-15. My old journals had short stories written in it, i would draw like crazy, read so many books and game MODERATLEY. I am now a 21 year old uni student with a part time lazy office job and game obsessivley in my only spare time and as of October 2023, I have been on a mission to get back in touch with that younger version of myself. I picked up reading, my journal is starting to bulge, I'm learning how to use guoache paints, building miniature sets along with gaming and I have never been so fulfilled just by doing these little hobbies because it truly is all just for me and my brain has been loving it :))
  • I notice from most of the comments that many of us “lost” our creativity or pushed our hobbies to the back around college. The place that is supposed to foster creativity and open new avenues actually stunted us. I’m glad that most of us are reconnecting with our younger selves again! I use to write poetry everyday and while my muse has changed to writing stories instead it feels great to embrace that side of myself again.

ahh I had so much trouble on focusing on my hobbies during college due to burnout - it even went so far that I went to my university's psychologist and the top two advices he gave me were: 1) to not compare myself to the academic speed of my peers (aka not taking as many classes as them) AND set a time after work / studying to get a few hours worth of just enjoying my hobbies😂 best guy ever
  • @cozywithnora
to see cozy games & reading become more and more popular is making me so happyyyyyy!!! i feel like 2024 is us cozy girlies year <3 my goal for this year is learning french! i'm moving to paris in 2 months :") !
  • @hako_242
I relate to this so much. When I was in uni, I just ended up giving up all of my hobbies because I was stuck in the mindset of “I should be finishing my assignments rather than doing this”, especially during my final year since i was working on my thesis paper. Now that I’ve graduated, I’m rediscovering my hobbies one step at a time and now I’m inspired to do a lot of projects.

My resolution is to fix my posture 🥴 I keep finding myself hunched over like a little goblin throughout the day lol

Defunitely important to have hobbies when you are a musician or artist and your "play becomes your work" because even though its your passion, its good to have other separate hobbies that is not connected to work at all
  • @erinpennington19
This couldn't have come at a better time! I really need to have defined hobbies outside of uni work, hopefully I'll take some ideas from this 😁
  • @Sarah-rj3fh
I kind of stopped drawing because of uni and blank page syndrome, so yeah I would like to get back at it and also start reading more !!! Every evening/night I scroll mindlessly on the Internet and it.s affecting my sleep schedule so thank for the recommendation, I’ll go to my local library when I’m done with the exam
  • @serenediipity
i recently graduated college last month and i'm currently in that post-grad slump of feeling directionless and trying to rediscover the passion that made me pursue my degree in the first place. rediscovering hobbies and the small things that make life feel worth it really do make a difference

Librarian here! Happy to recommend some good romcoms! I’m not sure what you’ve read already, but Happy Place by Emily Henry is probably my favorite romcom ever. All of Emily Henry’s adult romances are great, but this one for me was her best. Not only was the romance compelling - and I don’t normally enjoy the exes-to-lovers trope, so this is high praise from me for this book - but the actual story was just… oof, right in the feels. It’s about growing up, and about how that changes you and especially your friendships. The friendship aspects of the story had me literally in tears, but in the best way. And like all Emily Henry books, in the end you feel healed, like the world was ripped apart and put back together better than it was before. So good. I highly recommend it. If you enjoy cozy books, I’d also recommend The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna. If you enjoy audiobooks at all, I loved the narrator for this one, so it’d be good for any commutes you have. The romance is a sunny/grumpy, mild enemies-to-lovers, but not in any sort of toxic or gross way. Like I said, it’s cozy, so it’s sweet and low stakes with a guaranteed happy ending but without being vapid.

Just wanted to say I’m 24 weeks pregnant today and during the entirety of this pregnancy so far I have had no motivation. I have so many hobbies I used to love to do but now I feel really depressed and I’m just trying to get by one day at a time. Thank you Linh for making this video and giving me hope that hobbies are going to bring back the spark of happiness in my life.

Last year I finished university and the truth is that I was finally able to read something again for fun and not because I would have an evaluation of it later, I survived those 5 years thanks to bts, hearstopper, webtoon and the odd anime/kdrama jaja. Even though it wasn't the same amount as before, I took advantage of all the time I could, on public transport, in line whether it was for the bank, supermarket or hospital, and enjoyed every moment. Thanks for the recommendations! The same with drawing, I would love to go back to that little girl who filled notebooks with different drawings and not just draw to understand which muscle connects with which bone, although now I can draw whatever I want, I can't and I hope to improve this year. thanks for everything! i discovered your channel in 2020 and it's always a pleasure to see you again, i hope this will be a great year for you!💜

Loveless is an AMAZING book about "romance" and how some people don't feel it. A girl starting her college journey, trying to find out why she's never had a boyfriend (with a VERYVERY lovable cast of characters <333)
  • @nocctea
I just graduated and I can’t wait to rediscover my hobbies again! During college I felt I couldn’t do anything except my homework cause I always procrastinated and got behind, it just made me so miserable. It helps me feel less alone that others have difficulty making time for their hobbies, so thank you for this video! Hopefully I can get back into making time for myself and having fun creating art again!
  • @mxridraws
been seeing so many creators talking about reconnecting with old hobbies and exploring new ones in 2024, especially related to staying off your phone and social media. so happy to see more people talking about it and making hobbies a trend again ;3
  • @lisakuiper9149
if anyone was interested in the games that were talked about in the video, i HIGHLY recommend spiritfarer!! it is a really interesting game with a beautiful artstyle and soundtrack and it really transports you to a whole new world! there are so many characters to get to know and the stakes of the game are really low, so you it's the perfect game to play at night :) hope u guys enjoy it as much as i did!! <3
  • I support this on every level. I was an avid reader for years, but fell off of that hobby toward the end of high school. Thankfully, I picked it back up during my junior year of college to the point I was reading at least 40 books per year. It got me through a rough few years. I’ve fallen off again somewhat due to work, but I’m making the effort to read more again. I’m also trying to engage in some more creative pursuits I enjoyed as a child like writing, coloring, and journaling.

after going through my most chaotic and stressful semester of post-secondary EVER last fall and also having an insane year in general from moving out to so many more ups and downs, i am SO READY to make this the year where i can make that balance between work and my hobbies! reading, colouring, kpop collecting, minecraft, painting my nails, journaling, etc. i’m so ready to bring these things back into my life without feeling the guilt that i should be working 24/7! thank you for the video linh! i hope everyone who sees this can get back to something they love this year! 🩷✨
