If you've been watching Suzi's videos for years now you might have noticed she occasionally drop some subtle hints that she might be a survival/action horror fan. Blink and you might have missed it though.

I'm so happy they got Gunner Wright back for Isaac. It was bold to give him a voice after DS1, but he did such a good job that I'm happy they kept him for the remake.
  • One of the things that I really enjoyed about Isaac in this game is how much the writers incorporated his knowledge as a engineer to solving the problems on the Ishimura. That was true in the original too, but with him being fully voiced it’s interesting to here him work through and come up with solutions to the issues that plague the ship, and it makes him feel like the most important person on this mission because he’s literally the only one who can solve these problems. It just makes him stand out compared to a lot of other video game protagonists where their solution to the conflicts they face in their own games is just to “shoot the gun good”

Suzi: "I don't want to sound like a survival horror fanatic" Me: "No please continue, that's why we're here."

Hopefully with this game, Space Horror games finally have hope of returning
  • Thank god it turned out well. Took a decade to get back on track but hopefully we have more of this series to look forward to.

One of the most surreal things I've done in my playthrough was get close to the waypoint of the endgame but before I did I literally turned around and explored the entire Ishimura taking in all the little details. It was wild.

Perfectly redone story, better combat and exploration, more menacing necro attacks. The remake is nothing but more goodness on the original's legacy. A big connection I noticed to the previous games is in how Isaac makes the crazy decisions. "I gotta enter the ADS trench and recalibrate the cannons in an asteroid rainstorm." "I gotta enter Food Storage and finish off the Leviathan." "I gotta mess with dangerous mining equipment to plant an SOS beacon on an asteroid." It ties directly with the line in DS2 when Isaac has to return to the Ishimura. "Isaac, no! This is a really bad idea!" "Stick around. I'm full of bad ideas."
  • I like how the Doom and Dead Space series have returned to their grace once again and making a comeback with such a phenomenal way.

This game holds such a special place in my heart. It's like reuniting with an old friend
  • The only bad thing I can say about the Dead Space remake is that it makes me care about the characters now and makes everything that happens to them more heart wrenching.
  • One very small detail I loved when I saw it in game is the robotic arms on the infirmary beds that basically foreshadow what the patient will turn in to

It really shows that the devs not only were fans of the originals but also updated the game correctly with features that could not have been done in the generation of the orginal release, and i really like that one of those key aspects is exploration and i hope they bring that to on dead space 2 remake

I’m actually amazed how hard they nailed this. Making the Ishimura like the spencer mansion but with random encounters solves the flaw of DS1 where you would feel safe after clearing most of a level . This gonna be scary as heck

This remake was a dream come true for me. I’m a huge dead space fan and I was grinning from ear to ear during my entire playthrough and I can’t wait to dive into NG+.

Honestly, the game now feels a bit closer to System Shock 2 in terms of progression and exploration, thanks to the additions of a fully interconnected Ishimura and the clearance system. The moment I got access to the Ishimura's tram system, it immediately gave me vibes of using the Von Braun's main elevator to get back and forth between each decks to do certain things. Especially when you get the mission relating to look for special RIGs within all sectors of the ship. That's a pretty cool side mission, in my opinion.
  • "i hope i don't sound like a crazy survival horror fan" Suzi That's why we watch you We don't want anything less than you being that We all are here
  • "Dead space is back" chills down my spine. So excited to jump back into one of my all time favorite franchises!

Finding the guns directly and allowing you to reset power nodes are such welcome changes. I remember watching one of my favorite content creators play through the original. They never used anything but the plasma cutter and pulse rifle the entire game because they were saving credits for all the power nodes they can get for upgrades. They absolutely loved the game and it's details but I was sad the game design pushed them away from exploring all the awesome weapons the game had to offer.
  • Ive gotta say Sphere Hunter, your review is far more informative and interesting than others that have been put out by major game critic companies. I've already got this pre-ordered, but you've made me even more excited to play this game.
