  • I have a 16 year old Burmese cat. Took her to the vet recently and they told me her teeth are so healthy they're comparable to a 3 year old cat. Amazing to hear they can live to 24!
  • I had a beautiful male Burmese who succumbed to renal failure at 17. He was the most attached to me I have ever had in a car. I miss you winner.
  • My kitty was part Burmese (she is the one in my profile picture!) And she was the best cat I have ever had. She would follow me everywhere and she was always by my side. If I opened a door like a closet door she would be there getting up in it right a way, the most curious and interactive cat. She was the sweetest and most affectionate cat, I had my hip replaced when I was 25 and she was by my side through it all, always with me. At night she slept on my bed until she got sick, then she slept alone usually on the living room couch. When I got up in the morning and went into the kitchen she would be there every day meowing hello in her little yowl. We were attached at the hip starting with the fact that I loved having a cat to play with and she LOVED to play! She would jump over a meter up into the air to catch the toy, she was so fun! She was my best friend in the whole wide world... she died about a year ago, and I still am hurting from losing her. I will likely get another Burmese or two someday but nothing, no one can ever replace her... I loved her so much. She died from an autoimmune disease when she was 5 years old. She had allergies to soy and fleas, so we were careful with food and we always kept flea collar on, but she had an autoimmune disease and over 2 years her breathing got worse and worse as it destroyed her lungs, we put her down because there was no cure and she was in horrible pain. I still cry a lot because of the pain of losing her, she was my very best friend, the perfect animal. She was part Burmese with little white socks and a white chin, with the most gorgeous, sleek chocolate coat I have ever seen, she was beautiful inside and out ❤❤❤

I have an F4 female Burmese. Her dad is from Thailand. He's an F1 Thai Brown and her mom is an F4 European Burmese. Unbelievable cats. Super super clingy which is great because my wife and I couldn't have kids. We are going to breed her and keep the whole litter.

I've been asking my parents for a cat for years. Less than a year after I moved out they decided to get one. I am a strange combination of proud and indignant.

There's a neighbour's Burmese that kept on coming to our place, insist on visiting us XD...it never moewed...not vocal at all...just kept on clinging around...kind of flattering...😅
  • I remember having a few Burmese cats, and I have to admit that they are like Chatty Cathys. The last Burmese cat we owned that we adopted in 2007 (who sadly died in 2018 at the age of 11) who my father named Linkin (after the band Linkin Park), and the cat would meow an awful lot, and he would meow while I would watch TV, sleep, etc.

My Burmese is so annoying that it makes me laugh with how life like he is. He speaks from time to time and stuff like, "Hello" or "No". Its so funny. He is so clingy with me that I bet he would take a bullet for me. Best cat ever

A brick wrapped in silk is very true. A heavy girl nick named "panther girl" and I do miss her A LOT, No one seems to talk about the smarts of this breed. My mother use to say that animals were dumb. I do know that this is untrue for " Panther girl. Just a few storys from me although they are many. They say cats cannot understand English / our formal speech. Is it, they understand and just don't acknowledge it. I do believe they want to let you believe they do not understand. While leaving for work I saw our fur person on the front porch slumming it. I looked at her, and in a loud voice "Hey, there no free ride at this house, I want a mouse here (pointing at the welcome mat at the door) While feeling that was a wast of time. With no real reason behind the statement, went to work and never thought about it again. When I got back home after work ready to enter the house. There was a mouse right where I had pointed. A little unnerving, himmmm. We were building our new home and living in a RV. The Panter girl was not allowed inside the RV with out being inside an animal carrier. The carrier was roomy although not her favorite place. The cat and I were slumming/chillen together inside the RV when I heard my wife pull up. I looked at the cat and told her we are "both in for it with you 're not in the carrier" With that she walked down my legs got into the carrier just then my wife entered the door. There is more to tell whether you believe or not. There is too many times I just had to wonder "Could she understand? "

Used to have a big one back in Yangon when I was 9. Grumpy yet, will often lay on me when I sleep. Even if I sleep on my side.
