This video, created by Nucleus Medical Media, shows the two types of dialysis procedures for removing waste and excess fluid in the body when the kidneys stop functioning properly. Dialysis can also be done to treat acute kidney failure or to remove drugs or poisons from the body. In one type of dialysis, called hemodialysis, a dialyzer machine is used to clean the blood outside the body. In a peritoneal dialysis, the membranes lining the abdomen and intestines, called the peritoneum, is used to clean the blood without removing it from the body.

  • My brother had to go through this, he passed away last year. He went through this for over a year. We found out he had a brain tumor the day he died. He was 27 years old. I could see how much pain he was in. Rest in peace my brother. I miss you 😔😔😔
  • Every organ, kidney, heart, liver, brain, stomach and so on, in your body is equally important. So take care of them all.

My grandmother had to do this every 3-4 days for the last 10 years of her life. Somehow she still travelled the world.
  • I'm a kidney transplanted person. I've gone through both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis before transplantation. I was 4 years kid...now I understood the total concept of dialysis and now scared to see all this that I've gone through all this pain. I pray to God never ever such things happen to anyone. Be Happy and stay healthy always ☺️
  • My mother was a renal failure patient and gone through hemodialysis since 2009. She passed away 7 days ago i.e. 4th sept. 2022 after having multiple organ dysfunction. She was the most kindest and most bravest person that I know personally.

I was on dialysis 11 years ago... Thank God for my kidney transplant !
  • My mom is being put on dialysis today. She has a history of stopping her medication and so she went from Stage 3 to Stage 5 in two years. Just a few days ago she was on deaths door with everything, all her organs attempting to shut down. So, I’m grateful she’s still here. Update: Dialysis caused my mom to vomit and the temporary nursing home she was in for PT and Dialysis let her vomit an entire night until it was coffee ground consistency. She ended up being placed on hospice. She died Oct 2nd 2022. 💔💔

I’ve had blood drawn a few times. To fill a few vails, do some blood tests. I’ve felt it leave my body and my hand go a little cold and numb from the lack of blood. It’s not a very pleasant sensation. If I had to sit and watch my blood leave my body and fill an entire tube I think I would pass out, which I’ve never had happen to me before. Of course you’d get the blood back eventually but wow. People who live with this are something special.

It's amazing how the body works but it's also fragile as heck.

My grandmother is in hospital right now (11th January 2023) Doctors asked my father if they should do the dialysis or not and yet they have to decide. My grandmother is too weak and old, Pray for her health. I wish she will be alright.
