Perry Como may have been a clean-living, straight-laced crooner, but it doesn't mean his life was always as peaceful as his music. Despite a marriage that lasted until death did them part, and a career that earned his family riches that would extend wealth down multiple generations, Como experienced some tragedies in life that would break a more fragile person. From the loss of someone close to him, to career setbacks that could have ended his career, Como managed to stay the course and keep singing until the very end. From a career that began before the second World War, to a life that ended in the new millennium, here are tragic details about Perry Como.

What is your favorite song by Perry Como?
  • Perry was one of my favorite singers. You could tell he was genuinely a good man. He had the most wonderful Christmas Specials.
  • Who didn’t love perry. He was the perfect man they say he was shy. But he handled the audiences like a pro. One great hit after another. I liked the ballads.
  • Love his voice. He was a class act. What a voice. Rest peacefully, my friend. ❤️🕊️🙏

I was born in 45 and I distinctly remember hearing songs of his on the radio. The common person liked him, because he seemed like a nice guy.
  • He was my favorite crooner. I was raised by my grandparents and they were very big fans of his.
  • I loved his song, "And I love you so." To me, it is a touching song reserved for one that loved another. He was the sexiest and most delightful singer that ever lived. He learned the value of family and hard work. What is interesting he loved his wife who was his very best friend.
  • The weekly Perry Como was tremendously popular in Germany where I was growing up in the 50‘s and 60‘s. You could always find us glued to the TV set when his show was on! Such great memories!

Perry Como was a gentleman first, a hard worker, and a soothing singer. I always felt that he wasn’t acting - what we saw was the real person. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

It wouldn't be Christmas without a selection of his beautiful songs. What a wonderful human being and beautiful in every way. 😇🎄☃️

One of the best voices of the crooners, closest to Bing. Far better than Sinatra. His early life was full of sacrifice, something people don't understand today. It wasn't a tragic life. It was a good life lived by a genuinely good man.
