The Royal Choral Society has performed Handel's Messiah on Good Friday at the Royal Albert Hall every year since 1876. The RCS filmed their performance on 6 April 2012 by kind permission of the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. This clip features the glorious Hallelujah Chorus with the choir performing under the baton of their Music Director Richard Cooke. Students from the City of Lodon School for Girls joined the choir for this performance.. For further information on forthcoming RCS concerts please see www.royalchoralsociety.co.uk.

  • If humans singing it is beautiful, imagine the choir of angels praising the Lord!! And one day we’ll join them worshiping our Lord! ❤
  • "A standing tradition: Audience members usually rise to their feet when the famous "Hallelujah" chorus begins. Supposedly King George II was so moved during the London premiere of the Messiah that he stood and then everyone else in the theater followed so as not to offend him." Since then , everyone stands for this masterpiece.
  • "And He shall reign for ever and ever." What a masterpiece. G. F. Handel was indeed a legendary composer.

All my entire life (I"ll be 76 in January) our church choir has sung this. As a small child I'd get goose bumps. I still do but my eyes well up with tears. Majestic. Thank you for this!

Amazing Hallelujah. Praise God. Never tire of something that lifts the heart
  • Indeed this is a work of devine inspiration. It is said that Handel wept and claimed to have seen a heavenly vision when he composed this chorus. Everytime I hear this chorus I wish to be in that same spirit. This is not the work of art, this work the work of God. Soli Deo Gloria
