Scoot Shae and Deni are going to be scary in transition.

As a Blazers fan, I was super happy and surprised to see that we got Deni and I agree that he should fit right in on this Portland team (potentially becoming more than a role player, like you said). I saw some Blazers fans questioning if we gave up too many picks, but from my perspective Deni was 100% worth it. And then Malcom Brogdon was kinda like a first year mentor for Scoot Henderson, so maybe heโ€™s gonna play that role in Washington for a year or two. Brogdon is a legitimately good guard who can step in when things get rough and give you 20-30 every night if used like that. Or he can play backup for the young guys and support them mentally and like encourage them and that type of thing. Malcom is a good dude, he just didnโ€™t fit our timeline and we were happy to get him off for that reason.
  • This definitely was a front office move wanting to clear the roster with new blood. Zero question. I thought the Wiz got a ton for it. Fair trade.

as Deni's fan (i am from Israel), i think Wizards front office just do not plan on being completive this year. Deni is already contributing on both sides of the floor and he is competitive by his nature, so they just sell him for what they see as a good prices in terms of picks. They would have done it earlier if they got such an offer. Now that they got 2 1st round picks plus active tradable player, they "cash" the asset. Success? not in their plan for the next 1 or 2 years...
  • I think you nailed it with the new frontoffice take. Prob the best video ive seen from a 200 subs channel, big respect my man keep grinding you got my sub

You're saying we could have traded Kuzma, clearly they couldn't trade him for a mid round pick.
  • It hurts losing Deni but heโ€™s more valuable than Kuzma and the best asset we had. Kuzmaโ€™s value went down after the Mavericks rejected our offer. Give the Wizards credit for being shrewd. You have to respect the front officeโ€™s aggressiveness. They told us they would get more first round picks and they actually did it.

The reasons to trade Deni are probably: To keep on losing to get a lottery picks in the next 2025 & 2026 drafts, which are supposed to be strong lineup picks. The second reason is to clear his game minutes time to other young players and the last reason is his market value right now, which is high due to his decreasing yearly contract and his breakout season last year. Overall in my opinion, this is a bad decision for the wiz and they will regret it in the future since I don't think that Deni alone could make the Wizards a winning team without taking anything out from Den as a excellent and versatile player.
  • Didnt see this coming. As you mentioned, it should have been Kuz that was traded. Deni is a mid range game away from being a young 6-9 three level scoring, two way, able to power drive and get the line, make the next right play, able to run the offense, player. Thats an AS in the making. You don't freakn trade that player a 23 on a cheap declining contract. You build around them. This FO has been a complete train wreck. Deni was the main reason I tuned in to watch games last year. With Beal, KP, Gaff and now Deni gone. I don't feel any connection to this team anymore. And Ive been a fan since I was 10 years old. If you were going to move Deni, this wasn't the year to do it. This was the year to feature him even more. It was only post ASB they started giving him 30 plus per game. This FO has been a complete train wreck since day one.
  • Brother, youโ€™re going to be big. Keep up the great work man! Awesome content.
  • Youโ€™ve got a great style to your videosโ€ฆ you speak from your heart. As a Blazers fan, I feel it. Good luck to you this season and I hope everything works out for both teams

As a Blazer fan, I believe the main reason the Wizards traded Deni is because the new management wants to get the highest pick possible in a very talented '25 draft, and Deni would have won too many games to make that happen. Blazers are in a similar situation, and needed to unload Brogdon and soon Grant to give young guys more minutes, and more importantly, insure loses to get a high pick in the '25 draft.
