  • I was disappointed when Lily Gladstone didn’t win. From the beginning, I hoped that she would be nominated for Best Supporting Actress since she’s only in a third of “Killer of the Flower Moon” run time. I’ll never know why they nominated her for Best Lead Actress instead, but I had hope when she won a Golden Globe. Looking back, she probably would have had a better chance to win if she was nominated for Supporting Actress instead.
  • I disagree with your opinion on Best Picture. “Oppenheimer” was the most deserving to win Best Picture not just because it has Christopher Nolan’s signature epic and innovative direction and brilliant screenplay, brilliant and powerful performances from the likes of Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey, Jr. and Emily Blunt, and other top notch work from Nolan’s crew together in one package, but also because it’s not one of those movies that were made for escapism. It reminds us that the world we live in is J. Robert Oppenheimer’s creation, and it is kinda scary. This is one of the few movies that is an instant classic because not only it is exceptionally made, but because it is relevant and will continue to be relevant for generations to come.

Godzilla defiantly deserved his, after 70 years of acting, he finally got one.

The next thing RDJ did was Dr. Doolittle, not Oppenheimer.

I think, The Killers of the Flower Moon is hugely underappreciated. It is an extremely complex story with extremely complex characters and despite this, it was executed masterfully. Scorcese, DiCaprio, De Niro, and Gladstone were all perfect. Gladstone's performance was subtle and nuanced, and beautiful. It is not a matter of screen time. She had no chance to win against Stone's awkward, rough, over the top, and on the nose performance. Gladstone's character was much more difficult to portray.
  • Carey Mulligan's performance was infinitely superior to Annette Benning's. To this day I don't understand Benning scoring a nomination for such a basic and one dimensional hallmark movie role when there were complex, subtle, and thought provoking performances like Natalie Portman in May December or Greta Lee in Past Lives. I even think Margot Robbie would have been a better pick for her portrayal of Barbie.

The Boy and the Heron is amazing, plus Robert Pattinson was amazing in the English dub! He should really get into voice acting!

'Nobody has ever played a character with a child's mind in an adult's body before.' Um... 'Big'? '13 Going on 30', 'Freaky Friday' and all the films with that same plot? Every bigoted portrayal of mental disability (see Steve Carrel in 'Anchorman' and Charlize Theron in 'Arrested Development')?

The editing in Oppenheimer made me feel dizzy and tired. Like I needed a chance to breathe, and Nolan wouldn't let me! But RDJ was the most interesting part of that film, and he kept me engaged.
  • It was too small a role for an Oscar, But Rami Malek as David Hill was quite memorable in Oppenheimer.

I was touched at the cinema too. Ironically, it happened during a showing of the film Spotlight.
  • Really great commentary on the awards, I didn't saw all of the movies that were nominated but now I want to check more of them out

I don't know how I feel about Bradley Cooper becoming the villain of this year's Oscar cycle. I'm not going to say that all of the reasons why people were put off by him are invalid, but I do think that there's kind of a whichever-way-the-wind-blows randomness to whether or not social media is on your side or not.

I agree with best actress! I wish Lily had more time in the movie, she really carried it. Would much rather see her than half of the scenes with Leo.

The sound design of TZOI blew me away - so present and menacing and chilling but also so subtle.😊
  • @kofei
It feels to me that Emma Stone was helped a bit by the movie and the character she had to play. Still amazing performance, but I was really expecting Lily Gladstone to be the winner. Not mad about it tho.
