Kendall (immediately after this scene, probably): "Okay, Jess is out. Turns out she's a toxic person."
  • @slickrick1856
Jess is one of the few non sociopaths on this show. Her position can easily be replaced, but her as a great friend, employee, and human are far few and in between in his world

Jess: "No, no, I don't want to talk about this today, today should be all about your dad's funeral" Kendall: "It's cool, talk, yes, now, I insist you do" Jess: talks Kendall: "WOW HOW COULD YOU, DID YOU HAVE TO DO IT TODAY?!"

She looked uncharacteristically terrified at the end of last episode and gave an evasive answer when Kendall asked about Mencken. That told me all I needed to know.
  • @YnotNomis
I knew she was going to quit when she tried to stop Greg from going to confirm the presidency for Mencken in the previous episode.

Kendall: C'mon what's this what do you want to say to me Also Kendall: I can't believe you did this to me

Wow comments make me realize people don't know how toxic Kendall is. He might be our number 1 boy, but he's also a toxic boss and an abusive dad who always put his self interest first while lying to himself that he's so woke.

I feel that we need to acknowledge that the actress who plays Jess does terrific work here and actually matches Jeremy Strong's energy/intensity. As they say, there are no small parts.
  • I'm surprised she lasted this long. You could see from last season how much he stressed out Comfrey with his manic behavior and she was around a lot less time than Jess.
  • The saddest part of the scene is just what a child Kendall is - Roman, Shiv and Connor are like this too, but they do not have relationships with people who aren't in this world (Shiv and Connor had partners who were outsiders, but they were both social climbers who wanted to join in). Kendall had relationships with "normal" people, who let themselves believe he could be a good person and gave him rope for years and years until they just couldn't anymore. He lashes out at them, or is just left numb (as when Nate told him a few episodes ago he didn't have to be like his father), because he can't process what they are telling him. He doesn't know they are human beings. To him they are just selfish, mean, making him feel bad. If he ever breaks away for good and gets help some may come back, but his entire life has been about keeping him in that bubble, all the way to the tomb.

The only black woman (person) on this show and they make a point of showing her trying to stop the menken call. She had so much trust in Ken, put up with so much, contributed so much, and can’t even put him down as a reference.
  • @RafaHatesU
I hope he doesn’t do the rich douchebag thing and tries to make it hard for Jess to find a new position
  • @latesha_go
🎬 Kendall to Hugo: So you will be my dog...and make millions. Hugo: Woof Woof 🐶 🎬 Kendall to Jess: Be comfortable being undervalued, overworked, and unappreciated... because aspiring to more is stupid 😉. Jess: 👋🏽🖕🏾✂️
  • She knew he was going to go flip mode. That's the risk of working for people like this. You get paid a lot but then they have the power to hurt your career when you inevitably leave.

Instead of saying “Sorry you feel that way Kendal” I wish she would have said, “And this is why I am choosing to move on away from you and your narcissist behavior.” 😂😂😂😂😂
