  • It astounds me that doom is turning 30 this year and the community is just as passionate and creative as ever. God I love doom.

I love how the horror in this Mod is expressed through its atmosphere, tone, and dark implications of just wtf is happening rather than jumpscares and forced cutscenes that artificially try to force a reaction from the player
  • @nov1st
Can’t wait to load it onto my pregnancy test
  • @Othermage
I've been hanging around this channel since the days of haunted gaming, so it's kinda nostalgic to see Mutahar return to that kind of topic.
  • I feel like Muta dismissed the journal a little too much, as most of the stuff he later calls 'cryptic' is actually pretty well hinted at in there. I think the authors intent was that the map and the extra files were meant to be explored together in order to tell the story. This mod is so incredibly creative.

If this is just one massive art project, it hella deserves the attention it’s received. This mod is beautiful.
  • This wad feels like one big fever dream, but it's not done in the typical "walk around a corner, cheap jumpscare, make progress, wash, rinse, and repeat" process other wads and games in general have pulled off, and I absolutely love this wad for that.
  • @Pawlacz2137
Im actually shocked it makes you this long to cover this. This wad is without doubt best made creepypasta type game in history. Literally hit every mark perfectly. It also have epic Shrek boss fight. What do you need more?

You missed one of the best parts of this entire map. It’s ridiculously weird to get, but the closet in the house has a chance to lead you to a completely dark hallway, and that hallway keeps going on and on and on, but with no music at all. It’s genuinely one of the most nerve racking parts for the, the absolute silence, darkness and small spaces make it so unsettling to walk through. AND it’s also based off the house of leaves book as well, which is just nuts. I think I need to read that book now.
  • @Sodiumitis
Yooo! I'm so glad everyone's playing this now! Hope you enjoyed it!
  • @NathanTruby
Fighting all those demons at the gas station with the 1980-something music blaring from the car was incredibly cathartic, especially with everything the house puts you through.

The big thing about Running From Evil is that it's THE Doom 2 song- the default map01 music that plays when you play doom2 for the first time. Years and decades of people making maps and not changing the music means that it's effectively the default music for custom maps. So as a longtime doom player, when the music you have basically tattooed on your soul starts to get twisted and distorted when you don't expect it, it really fucks with you. There's a few more tweaks that mess with you too- altered weapons that use slightly different art and frames, you're taller than you should be, etc. So there's an extra layer to the creepiness of you're a longtime doom player.

The "cryptic" door in the fence outside the house is actually hinted in a painting in the living room after you collect all the items, and also it would be good to mention that for a doom fan, you get to notice more of the changes in the house because of how the doors are opened differently the second time you enter it, and how the weapons turn to have smooth animations as well (the second time you enter), also the music gets kind off distorted as well missing some notes and going out of beat.

I love how this channel came full circle with a popular creepy game story taking the internet by storm.
  • @Rheinguard
As an OG SomeOrdinaryGamers viewer, It has absolutely made my day to see Muta check out another ARG/Creepypasta game/mod. What a great callback to simpler times!
  • I recall playing this 5 days after it came out, after people started figuring out something was off ... and now it has blown up. You love to see it.
  • @-Raylight
I've seen 1+ hour video essay about this map. It's amazing, the endings, the mysteries When fans of 30 years old game created something better than AAA games. God I love Doom
  • I love how this is supposed to be a scary spooky Doom Mod & then Shrek shows up as a boss fight 😂.
  • @DawnOfTheOzz
Doom was never really that scary for me but for someone to create a mod that is genuinely creepy especially given the limitations of the game engine is remarkable.
