    The blocking part was really interesting. When i studied HEMA i was taught to block with a shield or the flat of the blade. I had no idea the bottom half of the blade was for blocking. Outstanding videos

    I can't help but notice some similarities between Cossack Shashka saber fencing and Polish Cross-Cutting fencing with their own szabla sabers. I know that different groups of Cossacks in history have their own ties to various nations of Europe, including Ukraine and the old Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, so maybe the styles came from the same root.

    These cossaks seem similar to the Nihang Sikhs. Sikhs also practise a martial art known as Gatka. Gatka has many blades weapons.
