Little background on the Toad struck by lightning line for anyone interested. There was initially supposed to be a running rivalry between Storm and Toad throughout the movie where’d he say things like “do you know what happens to a toad when it’s cornered” or “do you know what happens a toad when it senses danger” so Storm’s one liner to him was intended to be a way of her telling him to shut the hell up about toads, but then all the preceding lines were cut but the final one was left in, just making Storm look like an idiot.

My favorite part of Dark Phoenix was during Mystique’s funeral when Charles says “she died doing what she loved most,” and my friend whispered in my ear “what being impaled?” That was the ONLY time I felt ANYTHING during that movie.
  • Cyclops every time he meets up with the x-men: “Hey all, Scott here”
  • “They retconned Quicksilver as Magneto’s son and it doesn’t make sense and it wasn’t planned for” that actually isn’t true since there is a line in Days of Future Past where after seeing Erik’s powers, Quicksilver says: “Ya know, my mom once knew a guy who could do that” and then Erik made a “oh f*ck” face

Michael Fassbender as Magneto was probably one of the most solid casting choices made in any comic book movie. Just a shame the writing couldn't keep up with his acting over the course of those movies.

“I Never really loved Hugh Jackman was Wolverine” The hottest of hot takes, this is it folks Marcus has plateaued.
  • Magneto having respect for Charles was always present in the films so it made perfect sense why he didn't allow Pyro to just disrespect him

As someone who has done berry picking as a part-time job, I am offended that you would assume that a berry bush could not significantly harm a person. Being in those fields… changes a man

That scene where Angel is trying to cut off his wings was fucking insane. It went hard. Really dark and brutal for a PG-13 film, and the acting of the kid and the father was damn good, too.

The “Do you know what happens to a toad” line is a hold over from an earlier draft of the script where Toad the character had more dialogue and would routinely say weird toad/frog facts relating to the situation (the example given was the “you know what happens to a toad when you place it in a pan of water and heat it” thing) so it made sense in that context as a witty rejoinder to Toad’s catchphrase, but they decided to cut almost all of Toad’s dialogue so now it’s a punchline with no set up and sounds really fuckin’ stupid.

23:42-24:10 this scene IS consistent with Magneto and I really like it. The interesting about Charles and Magneto is despite being arch enemies they still consider each other as best friends. At the end of the day both of them do want the same thing, mutant freedom. But while Charles wants equality for both mutants and humankind, Magneto wants mutants to be the dominant race. And despite that Magneto is willing to sacrifice Charles for his goals, he still cares for him and knows that his heart is in the right place. So when Pyro is belittling Charles saying he wanted to kill him, Magneto takes that personally because he still valued Charles for who he is and what he had done for both him and other mutants. It also shows that Pyro doesn’t share Magnetos ideals for mutant freedom, he only joined Magneto so he could continue bullying the weak.

It's so frustrating that they used Evan Peters/Quicksilver as a cheap tease in Wandavision he fits the MCU so well hopefully they find a way to bring him back now that the Multiverse is being explored

One of the saddest things about Apocalypse to me was how they failed to use Psylocke, cause I just feel bad for the actress, Olivia Munn. She's actually a big fan of the character, and was super excited to play her, did a ton of training and read more comics, and they even got a comic-accurate eye-catching costume unlike every other black jumpsuit in the movie... only for the directer to know nothing about her (to the point where the actress had to explain the character to the director), and she gets like 1 minute of screen time and 2 lines. I just feel bad for her. She still got to keep the katana prop, however.

i love in dark phoenix when charles is like "storm you cant come, i care for you too much. alright scott lets go" it says a lot about how cyclops is treated in every single one of these xmen movies

Skrulls was supposed to be introduced in X-MEN DARK PHOENIX, but Skrulls was already in Captain Marvel at that point, and due to characters rights and such, they had to change the Skrulls to shape shifting "Aliens" which leads to this confusing movie.
  • Ever since I was a kid that archangel scene in the third movie has always stuck with me, never have I seen a child mutilate themselves for parental approval and honestly it’s probably one of the most scary scenes ever, just the fact that a super hero movie has that as an opening is just jarring to me but in an interesting good way, more super hero movies should have creative hooks like that

"I'm watching a child mutilate himself. Not saying it's a bad thing, I just didn't expect it." - Marcus, 2021 Hey, I've seen other people update their comments to thank folks for all the likes. But that is not me. Suckle at the teat of my clever ness.
  • There actually was an xmen apocalypse deleted scene where everyone was hanging out at the mall. It was a cute scene and I honestly wish they kept it

The blowing wind sound for Storm’s nothing role gag gets me every time

X2 is by far the best and most complete one. Stryker is a great villain. There's so many amazing set pieces like Magneto's plastic prison break. The exploration of Logan's trauma. Lady Deathstrike. The good guys teaming up with the bad guys to fight a bigger bad guy which creates reallly entertaining interactions. It's just perfect.
