    Vance jokes that he doesn't care 'if' Diet Mountain Dew is racist, he likes it! The crowd didn't get it. Ironic, for an author who encouraged his kinfolk to raise their game - that he pitches over their heads. But that aside, are we to suppose JD Vance wouldn't forego so much as a Mountain Dew to address racism?
