Intruder: silently breaks into Paul Harrell's home. Comes past a corner and enters the hall. Voice in the dark: this is a Winchester model 1897 caliber 12 gauge pump action shotgun, and is loaded with 6 rounds of Winchester white box number 4 buck 27 pellet, now let's see what it does. Intruder: 💩 his pants.

5 men broke into my home with sudden and overwhelming force, changed the batteries in the smoke detectors, got all the cabinets with toxic chemicals secured, and left, muttering something about "instructions unclear."
  • This video is the perfect encapsulation of everything I love about Paul Harrel, his seriousness, his dry yet witty sense of humour, his honesty, experience, skill, and occasional off the wall commentary.

I'll be honest, a break-in I experienced was 5 people trying to use overwhelming force. 4 big dudes with knives, 1 big woman with a gun. A gun with a high-capacity, decent caliber, and some range capability would've been nicer than trying to hide my sister and wounded roommate in a bathroom while I guarded with a cheap machete until the police arrived. Luckily the woman had no aim and missed my roommate as he ran for his life with a large stab wound in his liver. I don't expect that to occur again, but I'd rather be prepared if it does. It isn't fun watching someone bleed out who didn't deserve it.

The dangerous chemicals in the house advice is so freaking important. My niece's friend (6 years old girl) went to visit a friend. The hosting mother at some point said she is going to the shop and be back in less than 10 mins. The two little girls then decided to shampoo their hair. The host girl picked a bottle in the bathroom and poured the liquid on the hair of my niece's friend and within seconds she started screaming in pain. It turned out that the bottle was an acid drain cleaner. It burned her scalp, face, and chest. She has had many surgeries but it still shows. Please be cognisant of what chemicals you have at home.

My left ear knows so much about home defense now.

This man destroyed a pair of shorts just to make a point. That's dedication.
  • I’ve only heard of the “racking the slide.” Deterrent working once. When my Uncle was on the Highway patrol he was chasing a car in the middle of the night, the car had spun out and crashed into a ditch and the suspect had jumped out and started running through a field. My Uncle apparently not wanting to chase the guy in the dark grabbed his shotgun from the rack as he was exiting his patrol car and jumped on the hood of the suspect’s vehicle and racked the pump. The Suspect surrendered almost instantly, dropping to the ground like a sack of potatoes. I believe the deterrent worked in that instance because the guy was trying to flee instead of fight, if it had been the other way around I’m sure it would of been a different story.

Paul is never someone you would guess had to kill someone. Seems like such a nice and approachable guy. I guess that’s why you don’t mess with polite people.
  • @feonjun
Came here for info and left a fan of this man's personality.
  • @Pikepaw
Dogs have the added benefit of protecting you from loneliness and sadness, far more frequent threats than bad men busting down the door.

Paul is the practical side of gun YouTube. The jokes and banter are still there but this man makes solid points, and I appreciate it. Paul if you’re reading this thanks for all your work and assistance, stay safe
