No sensationalism, no hysterics. Just the facts in a respectful, thoughtful manner. True professionalism. We need more from the media to act this way.

Andrew, this is a masterclass on how a sensitive story should be done - without missing out on the details.
  • The ocean is a deadly environment and respect is a must,We need to manage underwater expeditions with the same rigor as going to space. I just feel so terrible for the families.
  • the way he explains the details as well as what might've been the crews are feeling under the sea is so powerful and it's suffocating too. Very well said, indeed.
  • The boy's aunt said he was actually terrified to go on the trip and feared something bad would happen, however ultimately decided to go to help the relationship with his father. Tragic!
  • He is one of the most polished reporters, he so clearly and succinctly explains the news. Simply gives you the facts without the theatrics of other networks.
  • It’s incredible the CBC comment sections are open for quality content pieces like this. It’s almost like they know what’s good journalism and what’s nonsense
  • This is by far the most respectful & informative coverage I have seen on this tragedy.
  • I honestly feel the worse for the 19 year old. His aunt, sister to the father, said he expressed hesitation and fear about it but felt he had to go to please his dad since this over fathers day weekend 😕 everyone else wanted to be there, he felt like he HAD to be there. Rip to all 5 men but rest in paradise Suleman, you were a great son

What’s really tragic about this whole event was the fact that the 19 year old didn’t even want to go on this dive.
  • As someone who has a dad. My dad guessed from the start that it had imploded. I even did too! I'm only going to 7th grade and we both knew that ocean water pressure exists! But how can the coast guards just let something not labled by anyone as 'safe to go underwater or in water' INTO THE GREAT UNKNOWN?

Wow, I missed Andrew Chang on-screen, very well spoken, a true journalist and a professional. Best of luck in your future endeavors and hope to see you surface back on-screen.

I wish more news stories were like this. Straight to the point, not sugar coated.
  • @elck3
The fact that this kid didn’t want to go but went anyway to be a companion to his father on Father’s Day and this happened on that day is tragic.

Brilliant insight into what potentially happened. Respectful, factual and very well presented indeed. Thank you.

According to Cameron, the tending vessel said the sub was trying to drop ballast (emergency surfacing) when communication and the locator beacon were lost. The transponder had a separate pressure container and battery, and apparently was destroyed in the violent implosion. At the same time, Cameron learned Monday, undersea sonar picked up the implosion but couldn't locate it. The coast guard was told too, but since they couldn't locate it, they hoped it was unrelated and searched as if they didn't believe it was gone.

Hats off to all the people that spent days and hours trying to save the Titan submersible
  • This man reporting this is the ultimate professional. He is wonderful in the way he explains it, and does not waiver in his telling of the story. Good Job.
  • @khayaw1361
I love how this gentleman is telling all this. His voice is so calming.

My sincere condolences to the families. Thank you for a respectful vlog. I have a question about the content they filmed inside Titan. Is there any chance that it can be recovered so we can maybe learn more about what went wrong?
