He was one of the greatest songwriters of our generation! Such a gifted artist and humble soul! He’s dearly missed 🙏

One of the coolest, most authentic men in the history of Rock n' Roll. And a truly legendary talent.

Tom’s the coolest guy to ever enter a room. As I write this it is the heartbreaking anniversary of his passing. I miss you so much, Tom Petty.

I still can't get over the fact that Tom Petty isn't still with us. Any road trip is enhanced with Tom Petty on the car stereo. He was just such a genuine humble person even after all of his well deserved success and fame. Still "Runnin' Down a Dream"

Wow. What a wonderful guy. I'd never heard him interviewed before. Zero ego. Very humble. Very sad we lost him so soon.

One of my biggest regrets in life is that I never saw him live. He is one of, if not the .. favorite artists of mine.
  • I've seen him 4 times. At one concert, he had a treasure chest in the middle of the stage, right in front. Suddenly, the lights went dark and the band members circled themselves around it. Tom Petty opened the chest and there was a very bright white light coming from inside. He reached in and slowly took out his top hat. The crowd went wild!!! He put it on his head and they all started playing again. That was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in my entire life. (slow, methodical) 👏.... 👏.... 👏.... 👏....

I've heard Tom's speaking voice on King of the Hill more than I have anywhere else.

I'll never forget the Super Bowl half time show one year after the stupid 'wardrobe malfunction'. Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers just walked out there and really rocked the hell out of the place.

He was so quick with the "you want 'em?" after Conan asked about his boots. The way Conan chuckled you could tell it caught him off guard.

Had one chance to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers before he passed away... and it was an experience so great it feels like a dream.❤
  • Saw him at Shoreline Amphitheater in 2008,during the housing crash. The economy was a mess & he knew that. He lowered his ticket prices & during the end of his performance he spoke to us how grateful he was that we all came to his concert and thanked us. This was the only show I had gotten to see this amazing musician. Wish I had more, wish Tom had more. He literally gave his life for his music & fans. Rip Tom ❤️🎶❤️

I saw him live, was doing some media photography of the show, and I was just blown away by the musicianship and showmanship of Tom and his band. The way he engaged with the crowd surprised me, he really played to the audience, the music was incredible, the fans had a great time. Really one of the most amazing performers I ever saw (and I have seen a lot).

You could tell Tom genuinely liked Conan as a person, made for a fun chat

This man is a legend. Not wanting to disappoint his fans, on his final tour, he endoured the pain, played though he badly needed hip replacment.

Always been a big fan of Tom Petty since the seventies. Little did I know that after he was gone , his music would help me get through the darkest time in my life. I sure miss him being on this earth.

A comedian’s best friend is someone who goes along with the bit.

You knew it was a great show when leaving the stadium everyone is still singing the outro to the encore tune. Tom and Co. put on one hell of a show every time I saw them. So sorry he's gone. RIP Mr. Petty.

My first concert when I was 22. Black Crowes opened and then Tom came out in his big purple top hat from the 'dont come around here no more" video. He blew our socks off. He didn't just play a show, he killed. It was so amazing that even though I was completely blitzed after smoking some serious shit, I remember every last detail. I saw him 3 more times after that and am so glad I did. Every show was soooo good. He cared about the audience and loved performing. Miss him like a family member.
