The Battle of the Cefis, took place in 1311 in the surroundings of the river Cefis and the lake of Copais (today Greece), with the Catalan Company and the Duke of Athens as opponents. After having served the Duke of Athens(De Briene) successfully, He decides to get rid of the catalan mercenaries, thinking that it will be an easy victory, due to overwhelming numerical superiority and the fearsome frankish heavy cavalry. That was one of rare occasions where an infantry force managed to obliterate a heavy cavalry force , much earlier than the famous battle of Azincourt. After the battle catalans emerged as lords of Athens.
