Did you know that me and my family were the people to see the first spot of fire on the Eastbourne pier? We got an employee to put it out
-
The West Pier was just beautiful. Heartbreaking to see the remnants of it. Don't get me started on the self-proclaimed 'Brighton' (Palace) Pier...
-
This very sad
-
A brilliantly made video that put me into thoughts of how gentle everything is. Even a bit scary...
-
such a shame it could not be restored. Much better than the Palace Pier
-
It's amazing you found so many photos from that angle! But it's sad that in 20 years it turned to nothing.
-
Beautiful short film, thank you 🙏
-
Wow!!! So sad. Thank you for the video ❤

My home town, left Brighton in 1973. I’ve been back twice since then, but it’s just not the same. Sad really, but that’s I’ve i guess.
-
A shame it was destroyed and with the old pavilion of the palace pier but the west pier was always great and will always be great
-
So sad that such a historic pier was left to rot and be destroyed.
-
The pic labelled 1970 is actually from 1973.
-
Great video

So sad! I remember the younger Bennett girls in Pride and Prejudice wanted so badly to go to Brighton. I imagine Jane Austin would be so sad to see the pier in ruins!
-
My mum was there when it burnt down
-
I am really young and the pier burned before I was born and it was said that no one knows what or how the fire was caused and I want to find out and how the place worked because it could have been due to wires that lit the sign
-
brighton pier on fire!
-
Now I get it how it looked at the fire. I was wondering why the first part was already sagging when it didn't even burn.
-
Excellent video - pity that cannot happen in real life - much preferred the West Pier to the Palace Pier when I was young

I basically lived on the opposite building of west pier for a few years in 1996. When i looked back in my old photos and i can see the light was still on. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1Vcyt9u2bE) Sadly to see it's gone, same faith as many 1800's stuff in Brighton.
