I know a lot of people make racially insensitive comments on this site about what they think about the people who live in places like this but I've met some of the nicest, kind-hearted people who came from the most poverty stricken, economic deprived communities. Most instances, they just trying to survive and raise their kids the best they know how. Think about it. A middle class kid from an affluent neighborhood in Florida walked into a school and brutally murdered 17 people so don't think only people from the hood do bad things.
  • Are ancestors made Montgomery Alabama look glorious back in the day it's a damn shame that it's all broken down today.
  • thanks for the upload, Charlie... the first part of the video hit me the hardest, the suburban scene with the near dead shopping centers, empty parking lots.... and the sterile, cookie cutter housing.... the older neighborhood still had some charm and a sense of place.... I knew I was down south somewhere.... this from a Northerner who loves cities and has done some housing rehab. Douglas Kasten hit the nail on the head.... what do people do here for a living? Everything else follows suit. I wish them well this Christmas which is about all I can do....
  • The slow death of once the greatest industrial powerhouse in the world, this is what happens when you don't manufacture your own goods & let other countries pay you peanuts to manufacture for them

Sadly, things have gotten worse in Montgomery. People dying almost every day, unnecessary arguments that leads to fights, children raised to be hateful thugs. I truly hope one day things will get better for my city. Regardless of so much negativity this city is giving off from mainly the black community, there are genuinely good hearted still around, as well as some surprisingly beautiful places to visit.

There are so many buildings that could house the homeless. But cities like New York City spend thousands just for pricy hotel rooms. And a billion a year.

You may live in a "low income" or "middle class" community but a lot can be said about keeping your yard clean, house painted, and car parked in the driveway.
  • Man I can't believe you made it down to Bama, hope you enjoyed your time here!

I don't think some of those hoods look that bad as long as people have a roof over there head.

Did anyone else notice the house to the right at the 11:27 mark? It was extremely lavish in comparison to ALL of the homes surrounding it.

Thank you for these videos. As a Canadian these are my trips to the south which I used to do every year until you know who came in to the office. Hurry up and get him out so I can go back. I feel so at home down here. Blessing to you all, oops sorry, ya'll.

  • No matter where you are in America or in the world, it's sad to see all the blight and struggle. It's not just in one place, it's in every city and state. If people really want to bring about a change for the better, bring it! It doesn't matter where you start. Just start somewhere! No matter how insignificant you might think your efforts would be. It all helps. It's not a job for just a few. It's a job for everyone! Do your part. Thank you and God bless you and yours.
  • Not much there... once the young people finished school they left.. not only the blacks... the young white people too...

Looks complete affluence compared to my trip travelling through Brazil's slums - was shot at two times and attempted kidnap that managed to get away hiding under a car.
