Seine's Dirty Water Back In Focus After Glitzy Paris Olympics Ceremony, Triathlon Training Cancelled

The Paris Olympics organisers have cancelled the first training session for triathletes due to pollution in the River Seine. A Paris 2024 and World Triathlon statement said "a joint decision was taken to cancel the swimming part of the triathlon orientation." Tests results released on July 26 showed the water quality in the River Seine was slightly below the standards needed to authorise swimming. The Seine occupied centre stage at the Olympics opening ceremony as the athletes came down the river on boats. However, heavy rain during the opening ceremony revived concerns over whether the long-polluted river will be clean enough to host swimming competitions. Water quality is deeply linked with the weather in the French capital as untreated sewage can be washed into the river during rains. Watch the video to find out more.

    Please clean up the opening ceremony next time. No ceremony has managed to upset 1/3 of the globes believers, ones worldrenowned, French class, dignity and morals seems to have disappeared.

    This is the Olympics. The ultimate prize for athletes who have dedicated their entire lives for this moment and due to utter incompetence their sport may completely change. The people who had a part in the decision to use the Seine as the venue of this Olympic event should be sacked. Madness.

    Budget Olympics indeed. Polluted river, eggs being rationed at meals, no AC in some rooms. No wounder the wealthier athletes are staying in Hotels. Opening Ceremony wasn't great.

    what!!! didn't the town and the committee for this event even think about this ahead of time....damn, what is wrong with france in regard to projection of safety for all people coming and involved with this scheduled event????...bad planning, bad planning.. i sincerely hope those involved with the water events do not, DO NOT get an ameba up their nose....damn...bad planning..
