The Kōyasan Cable (高野山ケーブル Kōyasan Kēburu), officially the Cable Line (鋼索線 Kōsaku-sen), is a Japanese funicular line in Kōya, Wakayama, operated by Nankai Electric Railway. The line opened in 1930 as a route to Mount Kōya, a famous Buddhist spot.

    その昔、経由地は違うんだけど橋本と高野山を定期の南海バス路線がありました。橋本橋を渡って玉川峡経由と高野口を回って九度山からかつての有料道路を経由しての2路線です。昭和50年(75年)以前かなあ。

    It appears that he is driving well over the speed limit. Maybe practising for an F1 race. This looks like a part of Japan that most tourist never see. Not really a tourist area.

    I followed the bus route over Google Earth...very strange, he goes a very long way round on a route very different from the rail service he is replacing! Is it because the direct road up Koya-san has tolls or restrictions on buses?
