south park honestly gets misinterpreted so much by literally everyone, it’s so annoying
  • @nyxsangel
“South Park is Racist!” “South Park is homophobic!” “South Park is [insert any form of bigotry]!” And then the show in question is satire and actively mocks bigots, and three of the four main characters have what would be considered “liberal/left leaning” views. Like if you ever watch the show you’ll know that y’all are genuinely tripping 99% of the time.
  • @thepengyknight
Not to mention the episode “You’re Getting Old”, which is Stan learning how awful it is to not care. The proof’s all there
  • Another point against it "being cool to not care" would be the character of Wendy. She is a very vocal activist for many important causes and very at odds with the worst characters in the show. She's ome of "the good ones", but embodies the frustration that people have to deal with when they want to better the world. She IS cool for it and people working against her are the worst.

mannn if i was given a nickel everytime someone made a terrible take on twitter/x I'd be richer than elon himself
  • @Choshako
I'd bet my entire bank account that the people who claim SP is about not caring have only seen clips of the show, not even full episodes or seasons, or know anything about Matt and Trey. If they did, they'd know that out of everything those two have been accused of over the years, not caring is the most bullshit accusation of all. Twitter really is the place where rational thought, deductive reasoning, and empathy go to die.
  • " a generation of kids who grew up watching south park" We can all see whats wrong with that sentence lol
  • @steakismeat177
They didn't apologize to Al Gore for how they portrayed him. They admitted he was right on climate change, that's it. If anything, they doubled down on attacking Gore's character, making him more concerned with how people view him and apologize to him than actually solving the issue
  • I think Cartman makes the point very clear because he's always pretending to care for selfish reasons like a Twitter user posting for likes
  • @localmenace3043
If I had a dollar for every time someone criticizing the show deliberately took it out of context to paint its fans in a bad light, I could’ve gotten my own place by now.
  • @realSirDextrose
South Park has always taken clear moral stances. People mistake this for apathy because they don’t take either side 100% of the time. When they criticize South Park for being apathetic they’re just mad that they criticize both sides instead of being subservient to the tribe.
  • @Lumiiify
The issue with this entire discussion is that, alot of people just don't watch the show. You have one side who think it's edgy therefore its bad, and you have the other side see edgy and think it's endorsement.
  • @JD-iu6rv
South Park has honestly gotten me to care about certain issues or see issues in different ways. That’s way more beneficial than other adult shows have done
  • South Park haters when “I disagree with it therefore it’s bad” isn’t a valid argument for why the show is supposedly so bad
  • If there's anything to take away from South Park, it's the importance of being self-aware.
  • @MrEffectfilms
South Park is bolder than something like Rick and Morty. Nihilism and Apathy are a dime a dozen these days so everyone feels like that's fine. The real issue everyone has with South Park is the fact that SP is not afraid to challenge what has become the norm. Rick and Morty simply represents what has become the norm.
  • @Zbballs
I whole heartedly believe that south park covers one issue extensively, its one issue that southpark has always covered, free speech, this entire show is in support of free speech, and the offensiveness that goes along with it is the evidence behind this, along side Matt and Trey literally willing to die for free speech
  • @gangstalkerr
not to mention how 90% of the people watching south park are watching it purely for the entertainment value alone, and aren't finishing the episode by taking away some kind of message or moral of the story. we just wanna watch cartoon kids say fuck and get into chaotic situations
  • @pillsnpiegaming
so although kids undoubtedly watch the show it was never meant for kids, South Park if i am remembering correctly was one of the first adult cartoons. the fact that she can claim that an entire generation doesnt care because of a show just shows how shity and uninterested in them their parents were. you cant blame a show for poor parenting
