Mario has one of the most iconic voices of any character in videogame history. The voice has become one of the most memorable things about this beloved character. Can you believe that this voice all started with a monologue about pizza? Charles Martinet is the voice actor who’s been providing Mario’s voice ever since the character first spoke in a game. Hearing the story about how he scored the role certainly makes it sound like Martinet’s now-iconic interpretation of the character was a surprise to both him and the auditioners who worked with Nintendo, alike. From his first time performing as Mario back in 1992 to his most recent Mario role in 2022, Martinet has said “it’s a-me, Mario!” in a way that no one else quite can. Martinet has provided the voice for many other video game characters, including even more characters that we know and love from the Super Mario Bros franchise, including Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, and even Donkey Kong. Joining Chris Pratt to lend their talent to the film, Anya Taylor Joy, Charlie, Day, Keegan Michael-Key, Jack Black and Seth Rogen. Even so, no voice is quite as recognizable and irreplaceable as Mario’s. It’s always interesting to learn about how an iconic voice came to be, but now is an especially important time to consider all that went into making Mario’s voice what it is today. This is, of course, because there’s already been some backlash over the highly anticipated Super Mario Bros movie. Actor, Chris Pratt is putting on Mario’s red hat and taking on the role for the film. Will he be able to master Mario’s voice? We’re ready to find out. Lets-a-go!

  • ❤ Mario. Did everyone forget the Super Mario super Show. All the characters had different voice actors including Mario. ❤Mario. Also the show introduced The Legend of Zelda series. ❤ Zelda as well.

Jack Black singing Peaches is what made me love the movie, I almost forgot Chris Pratt voiced Mario
  • Best movie I have seen in many years. I can't believe how well Jack black did peaches. I plan on watching it many more times. It captures a part of my childhood. Yushi not being in it was all I was disappointed about till the end credit seen. Now I can't wait to see what they do next. Thanks for giving this gift of a movie
  • The movie was AWESOME!! The actors nailed it and brought these beloved characters to life for many of us Nintendo/Rare gamers❤❤❤❤

They all did amazing. Marvelous creation by all involved. It that was full of nostalgia all around. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
  • True story, I like playing Peach the most in the Super Mario series. She floats well in Super Mario Bros. 2 (US) for one, and has a really cool kart in Mario Kart.

I knew from the moment that Jack Black was cast that the movie was going to be a MINIMUM 8 out of 10. He always brings an infectious passion and enthusiasm to whatever he works on.

I can honestly say every single character voice was nailed. Watched the movie and absolutely loved the performances.

Shigeru Miyamoto single handedly produced this movie to his vision, hence the level of authencity that can be felt by Mario fans.
  • @CaptainCat101
I'm just imaging Bowser with the voice of Lenny from Shark Tale, or Nacho Libre. Still, Jack Black is perfect casting.
  • @ShroomyBrain
Toad was the only voice that didn’t sound like the actor so good
  • @JxRocs
The reason why they didn't use this guy to voice Mario is because it became popular to use big celebrities as the voices of characters. Thanks to the movie Aladdin when Robin Williams voiced the genie
  • Chris did a great job! Imagine having Mario with the squeaky voice in the entire movie...🥴
  • @TheLeonard625
Anya bingeing Mario kart to learn peaches personality 😂 explains why she thinks peach being badass is a "new" era 😅
  • @shellbelz
Amazing cast. My daughter and I love the movie
  • Each actor was casted perfectly, I feel like after watching it I can't agree more with their choice. Although toad was annoying at times, I don't think it's the voice actors fault rather the writing for the character😂😂 I'm glad the movie was worth watching, they did good 💯💯💯
  • @Ichy3
Time like hope is an illusion best voice and delivery
  • @ThePerfectionist1
