The Lamenters are an unfortunate Loyalist Chapter of Space Marines which, perhaps more than any other Chapter of the present era, seems to have been cursed by a dark shadow that has long determined its fate.

The Lamenters' accursed and haunted legacy seems to have tainted much of what they have achieved and their victories often become bitter ashes in their hands.

  • They inherited Sanguinious’s compassion... along with his ruptured arteries and terrible luck

"It gets worse," That's just the Lamenters history in general.
  • @JackClockerinos
The Lamenters: "Why do you give us your toughest battles?" The Emperor: "Because you're my strongest soldiers"

The Lementors exist to balance out the incredible luck of the Ultra Marines...

The thing that makes the Lamenters so noteworthy isn't how bad their luck it. The cursed founding is full of bad luck chapters. It's that, no matter how bad their losses, how ruinous their penance, how often they are kicked and abused by fate..... They remain completely devoted to the cause. They don't forsake civilians, or the emperor. They fight to the last for the imperium- knowingly walking to their doom with a shout of defiance and heads held high. For those we cherish, We die in glory! It's not about the torture porn. It's about being the light that won't be extinguished, even if the universe itself conspires to snuff it out.

“For those we cherish, we die in glory” My poor, poor yellow bros😢

Their symbol isn't a "crying heart" it's A C T U A L L Y based on the old saying/phrase, "bleeding heart" which basically means you are very empathetic and generally care about everyone being happy or atleast well, especially when it comes to the unfortunate.

The Lamenters are the Textbook definition of Pyrrhic victories.

The Lore of the Lamenters in a nutshell: THE PAIN TRAIN HAS NO BREAKS
  • @nicko0904
"I will never be able to do them justice" It's ok Bricky the Lamenters never get justice.
  • 21:17 I am imagining the lamenters watching the ork world explode, as they're all battered and wounded and exhausted, and they look behind them at the miniscule amount of people they managed to save. And then a little malnourished human child approaches one of the lamenters, and just hugs them.
  • Lamenters taxi company. "For those we cherish we drive in glory"

    The Lamenters ARE THE BEST CHAPTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are the absolute GOOD GUYS in the grimdarkness of the far future where there is only war ;~;
  • @voxlknight2155
Fun fact, when a ship is lost in the warp, the inhabitants scale of time can be anywhere from 5 seconds to 50 million years. So, theoretically, the Lamenters couldve been lost there for thousands of years... or 30 minutes

I don't think people like Lamenters for " Murder and Tragedy Porn. " . I think it's for the " These underdogs are somehow not shooting the Imperium in the back after being stepped on, left out to dry by their allies and then finally given a bit of help from SOMEONE." - I think it's just that people like to cheer for the person that's getting beaten up, sometimes.

Imagine this; Sanguinius is revived. All of the Blood Angel chapters gather to him. He walks up to Dante and embraces him. "You are not my son. You, are my brother." He gives Dante the Blood Angels as his personal chapter. Sanguinius turns to the Legions. "You are all my sons." He steps down from his stage. Walks past all of his Successor Chapters. And stands before the Lamenters. "But you, you are my Legion" Sanguinius then goes on to lead the Lamenters as his personal Legion until the end of time.

The Lamenters are the third most important function in the Imperium of Man, second only to the Emperor himself and his Throne. You see, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. All that plot armor the Imperials have has to come from somewhere. The Lamenters' plot anti-armor is the counter balance that lets other characters survive.

Concerning the "ork and his gun" story, the TLDR version is: warp travel is wierd, and orks don't really navigate in the warp. An ork spacehulk makes a warp-jump, and due to warp shenanigans, arrives right where they jumped from, a few days before they jumped. The warboss decides to take advantage of this to get a spare of his favorite shoota, and the resulting confusion stops a waaagh before it could get going.

The Lamenters are like the 40k equivalent of the Pokemon move 'Endure'. They survive, but at 1 HP.

"You can't have a chapter the size of twenty thousand marines or there will be problem, but I will have a chapter with about twice as much, no problem." - probably Guilliman
