Ancient Georgia then known as Colchis to the Greeks is where Jason went to find the Golden Fleece which was protected by a huge dragon and he fell in love with the sorceress/princess Medea. The "golden fleece" thing is quite interesting as even nowadays in Georgia prospectors use a sheep skin to pan for alluvial gold in the rivers and the fleece becomes "golden" because of the small particles of gold trapped in it.
  • The Danish statue does not depict king Gorm the Old, but Ogier the Dane (Holger Danske).

That Alexander must've wanted to imitate Charlemagne with how bad his succession plan was.

Probably the best known modern-day member of the Georgian royal family was Prince Guéorgui Vassilievitch Matchabelli (1885-1935). A native of Tiflis, in 1921, he and his Italian-born wife settled in the United States. In 1926, they established the Prince Matchabelli Perfume Company. The prince, an amateur chemist, blended the company's perfumes. Among its best known brands was Wind Song (later heavily advertised on television). Other favorites were Ave Maria and Princess Norina. All the perfumes came in crown-shaped bottles.

One of the things I appreciate about Georgia is how much the medieval history is still widely known and celebrated, even as the country still lives in the 21st century and builds a forward-facing future for itself.

I don't care about religion. I don't care about monarchy. Yet, I here watching this video because I love the charts, how they are made and the story telling. 😅
