I think the reason why Roxy was a security node is pretty simple. She wasn't. The Mimic just recognized that Roxy was a threat and wanted Cassie to deactivate them. It's not the first time 'Gregory' and Helpi have outright lied to Cassie for their own goals.
  • @OverHeed
Gotta admit it everyone, they really did do a good job of making the entire community say "Portals...Portals... Oh, Ok."
  • @sworishina
Quick mini theory: Roxy wasn't really a node, she just was too conscious and after she pointedly did not kill Cassie and even acted neutrally towards her, the Mimic wanted to get rid of her in case Roxy tried to get in the way of it killing a child (which she did)

Actually the relationship with Roxy and Cassie makes perfect sense! Roxy only wanted to hunt down Gregory, same with the others. Roxy, still having awareness, doesn't wanna hurt just any child. This is how she acts with most kids. Gregory is an exception

One interesting thing about Chica is, that now when eating, she will turn her head by 180 degress to look behind her. She probably does this because she is most likely traumatised by Gregory severely damaging her when she was eating
  • Another really cool touch regarding Cassie's love of Roxy shows up early in Monty Golf almost immediately after she gets the mask. If you look at the Monty Fizzy Fazz machine on the ground, with the mask on, it changes to Roxy. It seems to imply that the mask subconsciously alters the perception of the wearer to make them more comfortable with wearing it.
  • Perhaps the Mimic's voice starts to change towards the end because he is getting impatient or too anxious to escape, or maybe he thought he already had Cassie in his hands and that she came so far that it didn't matter to do a perfect imitation anymore, Cassie wouldn't go back.

The fact that the "Prototype" Ruined Freddy still has Monty's Claws (albeit without the casings) is another detail that makes it seem more likely that this IS the decapitated body of our Freddy, with the "Prototype" stamp on the foot being added in as a clarification as to why Freddy was the way he was in the main game.

To explain roxy being a security node. It could also be that the mimic considers itself gregory to an extent. So when Roxy jumps at sounds trying to tear gregory apart, it identifies her as a possible threat that needs to be eliminated. Thus mimic orders Roxy's shutdown. However, Cassie's tool doesnt shutdown animatronics permanently, it seems to only reboot them. Possibly an oversight on the mimic's part.

I kind of like what they did with Monty. His problem in the original was that he was filled with aggressive rage, and now he has devolved into an almost literal mad dog. I also find it kind of funny that losing half of his body has actually made him more mobile. And while I kind of wish they had done a bit more with Chica, the fact that she is still just the grossest animatronic pleases me.

Something to note: sun would only ever talk to you when you had the mask on, whcih could mean that it ISN'T actually them switching between the two, and sun can only communicate with you via the digital world since he is, like he keeps saying, "trapped in a nap"

My one theory about the mimic is that the reason it uses that weird, stitched together suit is because, down in the old pizzeria, it could hear Candy Cadet endlessly telling its stories, which all feature the theme of several things being forcefully made into one thing. From there, its programming compelled it to mimic what it learns, and stitch together multiple suits into one.

A lot of people forget that in the trailer for ruin the 'prototype' written on Freddy's foot wasn't there either, it was something they most likely added in last minute to tie up loose ends. Freddy being a prototype would completely explain why he malfunctions and is able to resist the mimic virus, because his program is still under development and faulty/bugged.

I think the new implication of the sunny hill ending is that it’s not a physical place - it only exists in AR, hence why you get to it by finding a random cutout and putting the mask on. The AR mode already plays with space in some confusing and reality-bending ways, so having the main characters hide in a section of it that looks like a real place feels like the logical next step. This is also why Helpi is both on the hill and in the system: It’s all the same.
  • @rawrpopsicles
roxy's connection to and bond with an actual child makes it believable for the very first time that she could exist in a space such as the pizzaplex. other than this dlc, she just comes across as narcissistic with very few qualities that I could imagine a child ever looking up to. but roxy actually remembering the exact details of cassie's birthday party really deepens her previously very one dimensional character and makes it genuinely believable that she would exist around children and genuinely enjoy her time with them.

Admittedly, I actually didn't doubt animatronics being waterproof before Ruin released. While it's probably less intentional, you can walk Freddy in the daycare fountain with no issue. I haven't read the Twisted Ones beyond your rewrite, but I think there may've been a part where they try fighting them off with water, it fails and Afton says "did you really think my robots would be as poorly designed as your father's?" Not to mention the lack of facing them with water from what I've seen. Only exception I can think of is the Security Puppet in the rain.
  • @Judie-Nator
While it was a bit sudden, I really liked Roxy & Cassie's dynamic. From what we can tell, Roxy has a lot of emotional and self worth problems, which she hides with her bad attitude, but if she lets someone get close her, she's genuinely sweet. I'm 100% making fanart of them together, I can't get over them!
  • @lucifersno.1fan731
I think the Mimic was lying about Roxy and, realizing that she would definitely try to help Cassie, put Roxy in a position where she could be shut down. The Mimic does have some access to the Pizzaplex network so probably lured Roxy into getting stuck on the forklift, then told Cassie that Roxy was a security node to get her out of the way. Unfortunately for the Mimic Roxy survived... somehow.
  • @obambagaming1467
According to AstralSpiff/his chat, the Mimic is called "Grimic" (Gregory plus Mimic) in the files. The ending with Gregory, Vanessa and Helpy on the hill is appearently called "Brazil ending" in the files.

As a side note, anyone else notice the distinct tone shift between blue- and yellow-eyed Helpi? Blue tends more to a formal, impersonal tone (the best description I can think of is that he sounds like a tutorial or instruction pop-up, which given the implications about Vanessa's backstory she's likely familiar with how they read) whereas yellow tends to be more casual and directed specifically at Cassie. Definitely makes it seem like blue is the default, functional, version (ie the version an actual technician would be using) and yellow is an external force.
