Money doesn't buy style. That's the truth. We've all seen the multi-millionaire dollar celebrity homes that simply don't look good. So what are the elements that help create the perfect home? Well, I'm sharing them all with you in today's video! These are some interior design tips and tricks that, if followed, are guaranteed to help you craft a space that feels like home AND looks good without breaking your budget because we ALL have a budget.

I always talk about items that you can purchase to achieve the luxe look for less, but today I tell you want to DO to achieve the luxe look for less. Going to HomeGoods and doing tons of shopping is not THE most important step by any means, even if it is the most enjoyable.

To make my point today, we create a mood board together to show just how powerful these tips are. I'm a visual person and I figure that you are too, so hopefully you enjoy this method of presenting information! If you do, be sure to let me know down in the description box!

Check out the ‪@NextJeneration‬ Youtube channel! They did the awesome baking soda hack on some vases, which looks fantastic!

My lesson on sofas came from a yard sale we had when I was a kid. My parents went down the street where someone had put out a nice sofa before, without legs. They brought it home and my dad had furniture legs in the garage and put then on the couch. We put the couch in the yard sale for 50.00 and it sold immediately as the person buying it asked after purchase if it was the couch on the roadside. We told him it was. He said he left it there because it had no legs. He paid 50.00 for four wood legs to be screwed into the couch. I have upcycled my entire life. That couch was sold for fifty dollars in the 1970s.
  • Great tips, as always. I just finished redecorating my living room and dining room (open floor plan). All I did was slap on a fresh coat of paint, changed the curtains, moved accessories and furniture around, and voila! My husband came home and thought he stepped into the wrong house! My next project will be the bedroom.
  • I’ve always been a huge fan of pillow, sofa and chair covers, paint to change up decor pieces or finds at yard sales and thrift stores, and making my own DIY decor and wall hangings. My dad was a teacher and growing up in the 60s & 70s, mom taught me how to decorate and make something out of nothing on a budget. Back then though she sewed her own slip covers. I’m not as talented with a sewing machine. Lol

Soooo, building the sample room piece by piece and adding things after each point was ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! It makes a visual learner like me jump for joy! lol! But seriously, this was soooo helpful Kiva! Best video yet! :D
  • This video was so informative and the rectangle coffee table is the same one I got from Amazon 😂 We just removed the faux wood with a lighter and real reclaimed wood piece, reinforced it and now it looks like it's worth hundreds ! Made the whole room upscale and our expensive pieces pop !
  • Love shopping my home and repurposing items in different rooms. Gives them a whole new life!

The computer demo was nice, I’ll have to try that when I’m furnishing a future place. Your Before and Afters looked good too, wouldn’t mind seeing more of your portfolio!
  • Wow, Kiva! I enjoy your content so, so much. Thank you for explaining things to us in a way we can understand and never underestimating how much we need to learn the most basic things. There’s so much empathy in the way you present ideas and I love that. Also, you are so patient explaining basic concepts over and over, but sometimes that’s what it takes until we one day get that “aha!” Moment and actually grasp it. Please do create that video on how to section spaces, I struggle with that as my instinct is to just push everything against the walls 😑.

I'd love to see some styling small spaces content from you!

Paint tip. I live in the south. But even the guys at Home Depot down here said never keep your paint in the garage. Find a closet or something inside the house. Because paint is not happy in extreme temperatures. Freezing that doesn't make it happy and definitely heat doesn't make it happy. So you might think you've got half a gallon of something nice for touchup you don't open it for three years. Well you got a nice Dead three-year-old can of paint.

Watching you put together the mood board was memorizing and really brought the points to life. Thank you! Love these tips.

Kiva, I love your advice - changing the legs on the sofa, so smart! I’m too quick to be tired of seeing something without thinking of ways I can update them to fall in love again.
