This talk helps me so much when I feel overwhelmed about the current atrocities going on. I can do one thing at a time, and not feel guilty for being human. Self care IS radical, when it prepares you for community care.

Share more about radical self care. Please. Organizers need this now. Can you offer some sort of online/free, easy-to-access resource for Black people right now. We’re tired and hurting right now, and it’s much worse for organizers/activists. Think about it..
  • What a great message. And just by virtue of her voice and presence you can tell she practices what she preaches about self care.

Thank you for this analysis. I had the honor of co-facilitating a forum with Beother Eddie Conway. He mentioned his retrospective regret for not having recognized the importance of overall wellbeing as a part of the 🎉fight for liberation. It was very insightful.

Just watched the Angela Davis take on self care. I'm at @2:46 seconds - The truth is adding the word "radical" to the "self-care title/narrative/discussion" is unnecessary. Why? There's nothing radical about looking after yourself and taking care of yourself first. Living a life of intentional moderation; being responsible to yourself + being prudent by pursuing self-care through consuming high quality food, Getting adequate sleep and rest, avoiding drama, healing emotional wounds by applying forgiveness, tolerance acceptance and unconditional love, regular vigor ous outdoor exercise, etc. The exact opposite of rap /hip-hop segment of culture that emphasizes party, sex, taking advantage of women, materialistic pursuit and creating digital art in the studio. Angela Davis and this remarkable woman are the embodiment and evidence how a healthy body and a healthy mind (healed emotional wounds) create synergy of the brain, ego/emotion and body working together. Compare the emotional state of a black rapper vs black professional athlete / educator/ social worker, etc - night and day difference in emotional resiliency and capacity for reasoning.
