It's like the power creep problem in Japanese manga. Due to magazines don't want their top manga to end, they kept getting new arcs with new power ups, and it just never ends.

Lost writers had no idea what the show was about until they had to do the last season.

I got turned off from "Lost" when then were supposedly on a deserted island, but a group of them were in the basement doing their laundry.
  • Tim is correct in respect to From. Entertaining until you start to think.
  • From was initially interesting, but I have to agree with Tim on this one, it just sort of turned into mystery box storytelling. Or actually, more accurately, it sounds like round robin story telling. One writer starts the premise, tells the story for a little bit, then passes it off to the next guy who improvises the story for a little while then passes it on, and so on until the original premise has been forgotten and the story is just a jumbled mess of hanging plot threads. They introduce a new concept and run with it for a couple of episodes to keep you watching, then it either leads into another mysterious plot thread, or it's just dropped entirely with no satisfying resolution.

I never get invested in shows because they almost always go on so long that even if the premise and the first season are rock solid, they simply fall apart eventually. I'll just be here watching Big Trouble in Little China for the 9000th time

Lost was like Gilligan’s Island on crack

I like From even though I see why people like Tim might hate it. Raised By Wolves might be more his speed, but they cancelled that.

Well sort of understand. I dont know this for a fact. But lost had a very good direction until the end of season 3 and the writers strike happened. It almost felt like all these plot threads were created and after the strike they just hired new writers to try close the threads. Thats how it felt i may be wrong though

I must be the last person on earth who loved 'Lost' lolol. But I love 'From'. ❤

The biggest problem with "From" is they keep adding things and make you question what's going on and it keeps piling on but very few questions get answered so the payoff needs to be a huuuuge twist to justify the long grind of random stuff happening and im pretty sure they are not going to pull it off.

The English series Utopia was great, the American not so much. From older series, Carnivale and of course, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul!

I love this show. I watched both seasons in 3 days. Tim is right though that there are like 0 answers to anything. They need to start answering questions soon. In season 3 there needs to be some answers. I have a bad fear that the writers don't even know where its going.

You guys need to watch "Chronologically Lost" if you hated the jumping back and forth in time, but loved the characters in Lost. They edit the show order. It's amazing
  • The popularization of "mystery box" storytelling has been a plague upon stories. Every writer thinks they can do it now, and when it doesn't work, it makes a really bad story. Even when it does work, it's not often worth it.
  • Lost started of being one of the most enthralling shows I had ever watched then after a couple of seasons became a punishment that if I'd know better I should have dropped like hot potato, but stupidly watched right up to the worst ending in TV history.
  • Tim is right. Like Under The Dome but creepier yet less coherent. They’re introducing so many random “mystery boxes” you know there can’t ever be a satisfying conclusion.
