For me, Ravel will always be the sorcerer of music. There is always something magical about his music, and this score superbly delineates it. Bravo to Conductor and Orchestra for so fully falling under his spell.

le jardin féerique is the most beautiful piece. makes me cry and shiver with joy.

The last section was so breathtaking it's difficult to express one's feelings after hearing it.

I have often felt that the last movement is like ascending in to heaven.

As a child I loved this music, I lived at Lake Constance, on the Gehrenberg, between apple trees and a panoramic view of the lake and the Alps. Very early, when no one was awake yet, I was taken up by these sounds. I heard them from inside, as if in a clearing by a small lake. And it echoed back from the forest, and sometimes God himself seemed to be playing along: Ducks quietly beaking and immediately silent again. Holy peace, God's beautiful nature ... And Ravel, this infinitely enchanting mystic.

This is such a standout performance, such a loving realization of the tenderness, awe and wonder of one of Ravel's most exalted orchestral works.
  • Ravel was just a genius, there is none of his music that I don't like and a lot that I adore. This piece falls very much into the second category.
  • Will American audiences ever learn that a respectful pause at the end of a piece, and before any applause, allows everyone to fully appreciate and digest a piece? This is how it's done!
