Archewell 'delinquency' row descends into blame game: Sussex sources now insist missing cheque WAS received by US state officials but just not processed in time - after foundation was banned from raising or spending money
UPDATE: The notice of delinquency was reversed on 14 May, with the Department of Justice stating the charity was 'current and in good standing'
The Archewell Foundation was branded 'delinquent' because state officials did not process a $200 (£160) cheque, sources close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle claimed today.
The organisation was also billed as 'not in good standing' by the Registry of Charities and Fundraisers - part of the Department of Justice in California, the state where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex live in a £12million mansion and operate the charity.
The registry said Archewell failed to properly submit its annual report or renewal fees and has banned it from either fundraising or distributing charitable funds for now.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's charity is no longer listed as "delinquent" after what was described as a "wildly over-hyped" paperwork issue by California Governor Gavin Newsom.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were traveling back from a successful visit to Nigeria when news broke that their Archewell Foundation had been sent a letter by California's attorney general suggesting there were unpaid fees or missing forms.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s charity foundation has been declared delinquent and ordered to stop raising or spending money, Page Six can reveal.
The royal duo have let the official registration fees for their charity, Archewell, lapse since at least the beginning of May, according to an official letter from California’s attorney general, Rob Bonta.
The document states that Archewell has been listed as “delinquent” with the registry of charities and fundraisers for failing to submit its annual report and its registration fees.
