A security guard has described how he ‘jumped on’ an attacker who stabbed an 11-year-old girl and her mother, 34, in an apparently random attack in London’s busy Leicester Square.

Abdullah, who works at TWG Tea shop, said: ‘I saw that he was stabbing a kid. I jumped on him, pulled the hand in which he was carrying a knife and put him down on the floor and just [held] him and [kicked] the knife away from him.’

The woman and her daughter were taken to hospital by paramedics after the man, not thought to have been known to them, was apprehended by police

Abdullah your actions today saved the lives of two people, You give us all hope when this country is going through such a dificult time, Thank you young man you make us all proud beyond words.
  • Hero. To see someone with a knife & instinctively put yourself in danger to protect a child shows huge integrity, courage, & decency. Thank you Abdullah for preventing this from being another tragedy. To his employers - big bonus & big raise for Abdullah please!

I don't care about this security guards race, religion, colour, accent. What he did was exemplary. We live in a society where if the majority see something, we would just stand there and watch or pull out our phones to video the incident. Not Abdullah nor the other people who got involved in stopping the attacker.

Hero 👏👏. I'm a brown immigrant and I promise you I'd have done the same, and in a heartbeat. Life is sacred and this is our country too. Crime thrives in disunity. Our enemy is crime, not the immigrants or the brown people, like Tommy Robinson and his boys say. As long as we focus on that, we'll be able to keep each other safe. ❤
  • Who save one life save the whole humanity, look after each other my fellow citizen of Great Britian🇬🇧❤️

It’s unimaginable to think if you would not have put your life in danger it could have been worse than the recent incident where 3 angels were killed by a monster, thank you Andullah
