Messi evolves instead of ageing well. He obviously ages well, but his evolution from a speedy false 9 and RW or even CF, he's now the best playmaker. Just won his record breaking 5th IFFHS playmaker of 2022 award last week. Now he won CONMEBOL IFFHS player of the year and simultaneously won the FIFA best men's player of 2022! He's got the most motm's in this season, and leads PSG in gl contributions with 29 in 17 matches only. I didn't even have to mention Qatar, and the 7 WCup records he broke winning that. He's just astounding at 35. Running circles around 23-24 yrs old players. That's why Messi will be winning awards until he retires because he will reach his most longevity records by that time. Like his assist career total. Or his total in G/A total. Since the 2nd place guy has retired (Pele), but took him 130 more matches to reach it. Messi passed Pele in September. Now it's 1158 to 1144. CR with 1048, in 1152 matches. His total is the highest, but his gl contributions per match avg is the highest by an enormous amount. It's not even close.
